Eat your words bitch!

They were a bunch of crooks in the Bush administration and hopefully this latest report out today Aug, 24, 2009 will put them where they should be!

and they sought Clinton's impeachment over a blow job?

Such hypocrites!

The Complete List

I got a hold of the CIA report released which listed all those who knew of the interrogations(I know it hasn't been confirmed by a third party) and I expanded it to include the party and home state of every individual. It's a pretty extensive and party neutral list (as in both parties were WELL represented):

Partisanship is simply a way for the victor to shift all the blame to someone else. Both parties are completely incompetent and at fault for this debacle.

Hannity what did you do with Colmes?

That's right, Justin, and I'll add that when we sign a treaty (Geneva) we should abide by it.

I notice that Sean Hannity hasn't set up his waterboarding demonstration yet. What is he waiting for? Does he want its legal status to be determined by the Catholics at the Supreme Court? You know they'll allow it, so, geterdone before Olbermann ups the ante and asks for 72 hours butt naked at 50 degrees.

Torture is Unamerican

I've read some disturbing comments about the effects of the press release on American service members. As a veteran of Iraq and numerous other deployments I believe the truth makes us all safer. Some may argue the President's decision harms the safety and security of our forces. I couldn't disagree more; first, it is the job of the Military to protect the American people, not the other way around. Second, the safety and security of the military are most effectively ensured by high quality personnel, receiving realistic training and equipped with the tools necessary for the job. Finally, having and maintaining the moral high ground is the best weapon we have against those who would torture us.

Finally, we are a nation committed to the rule of law, anything less is unacceptable. Crimes have been committed and the people who conspired to use torture need to do some time. Clearly, it is appropriate to pardon personnel who, under orders, were directly involved in torture. But, the leaders who ordered this need to serve some serious time.

A crime is a a crime

The US established water boarding as a crime during the Philippine American war of 1898-1002. We reaffirmed that rulling in WWII agains the Japanesse. We again reaffirmed it during Vietnam. This is not a debatable issue. It is a mater of law. While I would think pardons should be given to the lower levels, the people at the upper levels should be prosecuted and if convicted given the standard sentance for this crime which seems to be 10 to 14 years. It is unfortunate, but necessary to restore the good name of the United States.

Damage is already done

If I was in the Military or ANY intellegence organization, I would be packing my bags. MR Obama has made it clear that the safety and security of OUR security personnel is second in line to HIS ambition to discredit his opposition and push his agenda.

It's almost as though he WANTS an attack on the US.

Good excuse to inact Martial law and suspend elections?

Full accountability but no prosecutions

As vile and immoral and even illegal as the incidents of torture may have been our government awoke on September 11, 2001 to a horror that had never been experienced on our shores before. No one knew, during those horrific moments in New York, in Washington, D.C., and in the skies over Pennsylvania who was attacking us, how many were attacking us and where they would be hitting us next.

I do not excuse the methods used but I understand that in an age of nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons the urgency of finding out where the next attack might be and when it would occur overrode the common decency of some of our leaders. Our President's number one priority is not the economy or universal healthcare, but instead it is the security and safety of the American people.

The truth must be learned. Torture must forever be banned. However, trying to satisfy the bloodlust of the far left by putting Bush and Cheney in prison garb and chains will only divide the country and it will make our intelligence services doubt their government will stand behind them in a time of national emergency. We need to find out everything that happened and make sure it never happens again, but then President Obama needs to do the right thing and offer a blank Presidential pardon to all those who engaged in acts, however repulsive, were meant to save the lives of perhaps millions of people.

treatment of captured terrorists

The issue of the treatment of captured terrorists was veted to Congress beginning in 2002. It is not a new issue and was done with the knowledge and consent of leaders of Congress -- of both parties.

The assault by the Obama Group in 2009 is intended to demonize the Republicans and cement Obama and his claim in office.

The one sure result of this assault is to help our enemies.

The 2012 presidential election has started.

Pelosi privy ..

The investigation into torture abuse should be pursued no matter where it leads, Democrat or Republican.

However, this is just the tip of the iceberg. Of more importance to me, is the lying and coverups that lead us into the Iraq war in the first place. This is were an investigation should be conducted and follow it no matter where it leads read Cheney, Bush, Rice, Rumsfeld, et al.

If it is found that evidence was manufactered, embellished or otherwise created that lead to the deaths of over 4,000 young men and women and untold thousands of Iraqi's, then those responsible for this should be brought to justice.

No one is above the law.

Pelosi was Privy to Torture

The Congressional leaders of both parties knew what the Administration was up to and could have done something to stem efforts to use more aggressive interrogation techniques. There are good people out there interested in pursuing Bush officials because they believe Justice demands it. However, the vast majority of the Democrats in Congress are pursuing this to pursue the destruction of their political enemies. That is not a good reason to do this. Furthermore, if these politically motivated investigations linger on for a long time and are blatently political -- and Democrats privy to the information are also not brought to justice, then there is no use in doing the investigation to begin with as it will alienate half the country who vote Republican.

I don't believe that it will be easy to convict individuals who recommended aggressive techniques in their capacity as Constitutional officers in a time of tremendous danger in the two years or so following 9/11. Nobody knew what would happen next and they devised a system that obviously needed refinements. But it isn't a matter of crime, it is a matter of policy. Policies that ultimately were / should be rejected for the most part and replaced with refined techniques and systems. We should look forward and avoid torture with room for more aggressive techniques in certain circumstances.
