Obama and the Birther Backlash

August 03, 2009 04:22 PM ET | Permanent Link | Print

These so called Birthers won't accept Obama's citizenship regardless of any proof, so why do the media continue to pay attention to them [Poll on Birthers: Most Southerners, Republicans Question Obama Citizenship, usnews.com]? I think it is time for the media to move on and no longer give them a mouthpiece. There is no investigation here anymore, and this was cleared up way before Obama was elected. These people are basically just angry that Obama is president. The childish whining will not stop until the Republicans are back in power ... and at this rate it could be a very long time.

Do not make up a derogatory name for me. I am not a birther and you are not a non-birther. These stupid words are not even in the dictionary. I am an American with the same rights as you have. If I want to see the actual birth certificate (not a certificate of live birth), then Mr. Obama should be man enough to show it to me. Mr. Obama can follow through on his promise to bring this country together, show transparency, and prove he is an honorable man by simply producing his true birth certificate. If he chooses to hide this document or influence government officials to destroy it, then he is only bringing down his house of cards on all of our heads.

Just go to Factckeck.org and get over it. ... It's a nonpartisan site. They personally handled and photographed the short form. If that's enough for every other thing calling for a birth certificate, why isn't it enough for you guys? Seriously, why are you asking for more than the DMV or Social Security office requires? Have you ever tried to get something out of those people without the proper documentation? It's impossible. If it's good enough for them, it's good enough for me. Do you not have better things to worry about?

President Obama's birth certificate has been produced multiple times and it has been reviewed by multiple people. Guess what? It is real. You will not believe that because you have chosen to ignore all of the facts that do not fit your little scenario that the liberals-socialists-communists have stolen your country. That's OK, you keep believing what you want, and you and your fellow birthers will drag down what is left of the Republican Party. Then after you have done that, you will wonder why the Democrats are running everything.

If this question will not go away, why not just provide the birth certificate (official) and college papers also. The request for college papers has been denied, and it seems puzzling. Why not just show the American people. By law U.S. citizenship is a requirement for presidency so why not have transparency on this?? From birth till present his life seems like a rollercoaster ride (schooling and living in Indonesia adds to skeptics). Just show everything like McCain did and that can be one less problem for the president.

Obama

To be President you must be a "natural born citizen", what ever that means in the modern era. I wish the Supreme Court would define this and end this matter.

Lizzie...

...you may not want to be called a birther, but it's preferable to what you actually are:

A bigot.

Sorry about that, old sport!

I was born in Australia in 1963

I live in Malaysia now. my birth certificate does not look like the one shown belonging to that Aussie chap. It is entirely different. I wish that I could put a scanned picture here to show to you. Many people here in Malaysia think Mr. Obama was born in Kenya. What difference does it make where he was born? He should not be ashamed to be born there. I have been to Mombasa and it's quite beautiful.
