Ron Paul and Auditing the Federal Reserve

June 25, 2009 03:50 PM ET | Permanent Link | Print

Ron Paul is the only man in government who seems to have a grasp of reality ["Exclusive Conversation With Ron Paul: The Future of the Federal Reserve," usnews.com]. We are broke and nobody is even looking at the checkbook. Inflation of our currency means we all pay more and more for everything and more and more people will not be able to pay their bills, meaning more mortgage defaults and bankruptcies. Interest rates must rise sooner or later, to oppressive levels that will cripple our economy because small business will not be able to obtain funds to expand. Are banks even lending money these days? Where did that TARP money go anyway? Now take into account the very high taxation that will be needed to service the national debt, not to mention the baby boomers all retiring and going on Social Security and Medicare. A financial disaster is looming, we know it, Ron Paul knows it, but the rest of the boneheads who claim to represent us refuse to see what is going on. I truly fear for our country if foreign countries stop servicing our debt, or worse, call in their chips and threaten war if we can't pay up. Can you spell China? They don't want the dollar to collapse any more than we do, because they own so much of our debt, but inflation is one clever but evil way to devalue that debt. Who really knows where their breaking point is?

Those who oppose HR 1207 and stand for re-election will have told the electorate who they represent. With the support shown for HR 1207 in the House, we should expect a "watered down version" to be presented in the Senate, to provide cover for our career politicians. It is way past time to de-louse the criminal and unconstitutional Federal Reserve, which is responsible for a majority of the world's problems.

Auditing the Fed is important because of its monopoly over money. Competing currencies are now illegal! If we allowed competing currencies people could choose their currency—perhaps a currency backed by silver, or gold, or a basket of commodities. If we believe in a free market and competition, then let's allow competition in currencies. If we had a choice, people would use real money from an open and transparent bank (or other issuer) and Federal Reserve Notes would be used less.

I truly enjoyed this story. I consider myself to be an independent on political and social issues, liberal on some issues, and moderate and conservative on others. I tend to disagree with Ron Paul on issues facing the nation, but his perspective on the monetary policy of the Fed is insightful. No matter what your political affiliation happens to be, there is no arguing that the American public has a right to know if the Federal Reserve is liable for promoting economic crisis, rather then its stated purpose of preventing crisis. A federal audit should be an annual requirement for the Federal Reserve Bank. In due time, I am sure that the responsibility for printing currency will return to the U.S. Treasury. Every American should be writing their congress people to pressure them to vote for HR 1207, the Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2009.

Dr. Paul is doing us all a favor in allowing us to find out more about what the Fed is up to, especially with regards to our money. I agree with Dr. Paul's stances more often than not, and on this issue I am supporting him 100 percent. Very good article.

We Owe it to the rest of our species forever

Boo hoo ! why us, dont make me laugh. The democratic experiment that is the good old u s of a, is in its difficult teenage years, alot of european countries have had a revolution or two over the past two hundred years and not always for the better. I have deepest sympathy for americans because this economic slowdown has happened whilst youve been balanced on the biggest wave haveing some of your best years. Thats over now baby, our quality of life will never be as good as it is right now and it will probably decrease over the next decade. I and my friends here in England are willing you Americans to make positive action against your keepers, and soon. If the corporate criminals and elite of our country can breath real life into the Military Industrial Complex and control your armed forces then we can all kiss our "FREEDOM GOODBYE".Never fear though guys, if you think its hard trying to wake lazy dumb Americans from there climate of comfort. English people are totally unaware that this issue needs to be addressed, they really think that whatever happens to america wont effect us. I dont care if i am viewed as a crank here in my little town near Manchester, I have a son who will enherit this earth from me and right now i wouldnt want him to have it. Audit the fed and embrace the fear, the freedom of mankind is at risk.

Help Ron Audit the Federal Reserve!

The Fed will do anything to stop us, unfortunately we cannot afford to be stopped we have nothing to lose, we need our country and home back and Auditting the Fed is a good place to start!

It is simple, really — the larger the debt, the richer and more powerful the international bankers become. The Federal Reserve is their front organization and it runs roughshod over Congress.

The passage of HR 1207 is not certain and it faces an even more strenuous uphill battle in the Senate. It is, at this point, our only practical hope of auditing the Fed, revealing its numerous crimes, exposing its mega-grand theft scams, and delivering Donald Kohn, his boss Bernanke, and the minions of the international banksters to justice.

A NEW HOPE

We all have been living a nightmare. A vision D. Eisenhower warned of in his 1961 farewell address to the nation. In his address, Eisenhower warned of the corruption of our government, our society, and our culture by the MILITARY INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX. It seems that, as a nation, we have not listened. Eisenhower’s dire vision has become our reality. And from this fearful dream, this nation is waking. Our eyes are opening to the truth collectively for the first time. WE THE PEOPLE are finding that we have been subjugated, placated into ignorance and fear, lied to by the very people we have entrusted to preserve and protect our rights, liberties, and our constitution. Many will turn away in fear of truth and close their eyes once again. To open our eyes to this reality, is to also understand that we are all responsible for it as well. complacency and dependence upon the machine keeps THE PEOPLE in line because it is convenient and safe. We have sold our souls. We have as a nation let this happen to ourselves.

My heart breaks for the people of this nation. Our government wages war upon our freedoms, liberties, and our constitution. I watch our republic’s destruction, not to the sound of guns or bombs, but to the sound of thunderous applause of those held captive by terrified patriotic blindness, guided by the propaganda of fear, as we give our rights and even the lives of our fellow man for the profit of the corrupt. A fear that is erasing our great history of freedom and repeating itself 70 years later with another dictatorship of war, under the guise of homeland security and the protection of the people.

BUT THERE IS STILL HOPE.

With love and openness, we can overcome ignorance and fear. It is our right as the people, and my duty as a United States MARINE written into our constitution by our founding fathers, entrusted to us, by the people, to ensure that our liberty, freedom, and the constitution never again become the subjugation of the corruption that we have wrought upon ourselves. We must take back our country, and give it to the people. So let us open our hearts, take responsibility, and make our HOPE become our reality. Lets begin REVOLUTION. His name

Dr. Ron Paul
