Mark Sanford, Another Dishonest Politician
Are there any honest politicians out there? It looks like the GOP will struggle as they continue to search for a leader.

Sanford in 2012
I cannot believe that anyone with a speck of common sense believes for a minute that todays elected officals do not abuse their power, expense account and the trust of the American people. They are all human and if every politican that had done something unbiblical, underhanded or illegal were to resign, Washington would be empty tommorrow. Sanford has stood up for the Tenth Amendment and the people of his state and spoke out against the abuses of the Federal Govt. This alone makes him a hero in my book. This indiscretion does not change that for there are crimes much worse going on "legally".
I Guess it's the Norm
None of us are surprised any more by the "mis-behavin'" politicians. I do love the way they get up in front of their own buddies, "man-up", then their buddies all applaud - why I'm not sure. Sanfor d hasn't gone that route, but maybe that's a Washington thing.
The Republicans have a real dilemna - the party of Christian values. There's lots of sex and intrigue in the Bible, but the Republicans have professed to be the protectors of decent, straight, married, monogamous lifestyles. They claim the Democrats are endangering the institution of marriage, unwed mothers are growing in number, Gay people are loose and unfaithful partners, and wanton sex for money (prostitution)and soliticing young people for favors is related to these relaxed Democratic approaches.
So why do we keep hearing about our Republican leaders or their families involved in all of the above? I don't really care if a person lies to their spouse. Their spouse decides if that's OK or not - not me. But it really is laughable when that same politician has been condemning others for the same things they do themselves.
The Democrats cheat on their spouses too - of course. But they have not based their entire political career on hypocrisy and false values.
In fairness to Sanford - he never was one to use religion to get elected, so he is less of a hypocrite. Just a bad husband. Unfortunately, he is connected with this "family values" hypocrisy by association with the Republican party. That's why he will get similar criticism from folks like me - I heard him speak once, and he's a bright guy about a lot of things. Obviously sex is not one of them.
