Put a Lid on Limbaugh

February 04, 2009 05:05 PM ET | Permanent Link | Print

I listened to Rush for a couple years before I tired of his rhetoric and praising himself; in short, until I began thinking again ["Pro-Obama Group Expands Rush Limbaugh Bashing Campaign," usnews.com]. I realize he is a showman making a living off anything folks want to hear, however for Rush to call for our president to fail as he is struggling to repair eight years of his President [Bush's] incompetence is not only wrong but reason to run him out of town. Our nation is bipartisan; only our government is partisan. So let's keep things in perspective shall we? No American must ever want any president to fail, just as no American should ever want our nation to fail!

Let's get real folks. Rush Limbaugh—the entertainer—is paid tens of millions of dollars by his radio syndicate to spout his GOP rubbish over the public airways. What difference does it make to him if poor and middle-class Americans struggle to make ends meet? Why does he care if the stimulus package is defeated or delayed indefinitely? Why does he wish that the Obama administration fails? Rush is set for life. Give me a break. How can any citizen take this GOP mouthpiece seriously?!

Rush only makes noise because people still put a microphone in front of him. He is irrelevant, but he is also being made into some sort of spokesperson for anyone who is a "conservative." I too used to listen and grew tired and although he should not be defended on a lot of things the fact that folks say he wants Obama to fail is ludicrous. I heard the whole interview, and he said if Obama was going to get the country going again, he wants him to succeed, but that if he was going to put forth a very liberal and socialist agenda, he wanted him to fail. I voted for Obama because we needed change. Unfortunately, given no one on his staff knows how to pay taxes and yet are still getting put up for huge jobs in the country with no recourse. Rush is out there to deflect sane folks from everything else that is going on. This country has gotten no better, and we aren't looking to get any better soon unless Democrats and Republicans work for the good of the country and not the good of themselves or their political party.

Rush is completely irrelevant to most Americans, but unfortunately select GOPers listen to him and carry his policies to [Washington] D.C. Wishing for Obama's failure is wishing for the failure of the U.S. economy. Rush has never been a friend to middle-class Americans. It's time middle-class Americans tell him to shut the heck up and get out of the way of our future.
