Indoctrination of Palestinian Children
Thank you for publishing Harold Evans's excellent article on teaching Palestinian children to hate ["Poisoning Minds in Bethlehem," Special Year-End Issue]. Watching videos of children being indoctrinated by TV programs, cartoons, teachers, and school books (even kindergarteners) is truly frightening. It never ceases to amaze me that the pro Palestinian lobby is so focused on demonizing Israel that it cannot see the reality of who should shoulder the blame for the longevity and the lack of progress in the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. For the past 60 years, Israel has tried to make peace with an unwilling partner. As rockets again rain down in southern Israel, it really is time for the U.N., the European Union, and the people who support the Palestinians to take a reality check and start promoting peace, not further hatred fed by lies and misinformation.

In his incisive editorial, Evans has pointed out the greatest obstacle to a true Israeli-Arab or Israeli-Palestinian peace, namely the indoctrination from an early age of Palestinian Arab children with an overwhelming hatred of Jews. As long as the schools teach that Jews are less than human, the Arab students when they reach maturity will not tolerate the presence of a Jewish state in the region. No amount of concessions on the part of Israel will suffice with this endemic hatred inculcated into Palestinian Arab children. Without a 180-degree reversal in educational policy, there is no chance for any lasting peace in the region and conflict will continue to fester.

Evans presents a cogent, comprehensive, and chilling analysis on the "corruption of children's minds." This is a shocking form of child abuse; teaching Palestinian children that "martyrdom is bliss" and inculcating hatred of Israel through "educational" videos and TV programs featuring faux Disney characters. Mahmoud Abbas, the putative "moderate" Fatah leader, controls Palestinian national television and is complicit in disseminating the heinous indoctrination to hate life and ultimately to kill infidels. This "mental deformation" makes a mockery of the West's indefatigable, but regrettably futile, efforts to finalize an agreement between Israel and the Palestinian Authority.

Gay Muslims and democracy
There are many israelis who don't want us to sleak about peace. Rhey try to humiliate us by making us irrelevant. As an intellectual i am always amazed why israeli and Palestinian gay organization can not find a solution to the problem. There is also a lack of cooperation on organizing a gay parade in Ramallah. Some "reasonable" people say it is in possible. I ask you how the election of a first black president in racist America is possible? Yes we can and we will!
As a proud gay Muslim American I totally disagree
Palestinians are very loving people and there is NO hate there.
Even if there some education against israel it is not that severe. Both my husband and my boyfriend are Palestinians. My husband is from gaza and my boyfriend is Christian from Ramallah so I know what i am talking about.
Peace in the middle east can come.
Let us start to begin realistically. If america denounced Israel, and put a hard line on it. And said to Iran, look just stop what you are doing, lets make peace. Lets work together in finding a common ground. And they would point to israel, and the suffering of the palestinian people. If palestinians ruled its land, it wouldn't be suffering as it is today. People would be free to worship, free to pass villages without the agonizing check points and walls. Today's modern day apartheid is supported by israel and the United states. They built walls and america said nothing. And with this war in gaza, you have to be a non-caring madman not to do anything about it if you are a gazan. That is only the begining. Now TV newspaper, and education are all linked one way or another to the government why ? Because everyone has been effected by the creation of israel. The palestinians journalist's have been effected, the teachers in school have been effected, the student has been effected. Everything points towards the occupation, and the United States supports the entity that is doing all this. So people should wake up and see what is going on.. If the U.S really cared for the palestinians and the people in the region, they would simply set up a Palestinian government decades ago. How can such a problem occurr ? Because of the israeli-American influence in washington. Israel has more lobbyists than OPEC has. Why would one country have so much interest in lobbying in america ? Because it has to uphold it's illegal existance. And the silly subject title. Peace in the middle east, that can only happen when the United States helps build palestine in its rightful spot, and gain love and peace with the entire arab and muslim world. Imagine if tomorrow if the United States said. TODAY WE SUPPORT THE ENTIRE CREATION OF PALESTINE ! The world would rejoice. People would cry and hamas would dissolve, and people would live again. But today, palestinians don't live like this. We are suffering. And we need help. Help us. Please. We just want to live, we want wants right in our hearts. We should not be subjected to this war. We did nothing to anyone. We are palestinians, we are one of the first people to have democracy in the middle east. We love it, and cherish it, and the israelis hate us for it. Please help. We did nothing to you. Why is america insisting on helping 20 million jews who entity has tarnished its very nature of being a jew. A real jew wouldn't do these kind of crimes to the palestinians. Today is nazism in palestine. Help us please. Let us live.
