Going monthly but subscription only doubles???

Just received my isse indicating that the print issue will go monthly (you really had to read it to see this) and a new online version. It sounded great when they say they will double your subscription time. But going from a WEEKLY to a MONTHLY it should lengthen the subscription to 4 times, not just 2.

I guess this is the begging of the end for sure for US News. The online version will not get the revenue dollars and who will really want to read a monthly news magazine now. Like, hey this is a great follow up store from that thing that happened over a month ago. Even newspapers are mostly yesturdays news between all the advertisements. Local investigative reporting is the only thing that keeps me from canceling my local newspaper...

where are my us news issues that i prepaid ?

I paid for 53 issues in april 2008. i have not received issues recently. where are they?

double issues

My question is the same as many other commenters. I have paid for 52 single issues which is different than 26. Will my subscription double?

'New' US News

Am I the only one upset with the information that USSN&WR is going to become a bi-monthly magazine? I paid for a subscription to a weekly magazine. Will my subscription time be doubled, since the number of issues is being halved?

I have read USN&WR for 25 years because I enjoy the timely newscoverage I can take with me, anywhere. USN&WR is not an internet site, but an informative magazine to be read and enjoyed. This medium seems to be going the way of the dodo with your willing help.

Weekly: No More!

There is something wonderful about curling up on the sofa when U.S.N&WR comes weekly that you can not do with a computer. Nevertheless, this "sacred" time has been stolen as we learn that your magazine has changed from a weekly to by-weekly publication due to an increased interest in computerized news. Your decision is a disappointment! Ironically, we are a family that regularly utilizes the Internet, but we do so as a matter of choice in terms of when and why we turn to our friendly computers.

Previously, my family and I felt "safe" that our favorite magazine was to follow its given format of providing consistent, WEEKLY, unbiased news. There would be no cutbacks heretofore associated with airline companies, no spin that accompanied most political campaigns, no breaking of promises related to most of those in positions of responsibilities. U.S.N&WR. was unlike other entities which thought nothing of taking the public for granted in terms of its loyalty and intelligence.

When subscribing to U.S.N&WR, we thought that we entered a contract that ran the duration of its subscription. However, we now learn that our loyalty was squandered...we will now receive your publication on a by-weekly basis. For the most part, the contract (promise) we had entered into when subscribing to U.S.N&WR was made null and void. We are asked to cuddle up to our computers instead of our weekly magazine of choice during this most memorable period in history. We are, indeed, chagrined.

However, we have a choice when our next subscription comes due. "X" will not fill the box of affirmation when asked to re-subscribe to U.S.N&WR. We may turn to another magazine, or learn to cuddle with our computers on a weekly basis.

Biweekly Publication

I had a very similar "history" with USNWR as a previous poster - looking for something balanced, and quite satisfied for over 15 years.

Yet I have been increasingly disappointed, in the past year or so, as more and more "double issues" have emerged. And now comes the dreaded announcement - biweekly publication - somewhat buried in discussion about other aesthetics.

There is too much going on in the world to wait two weeks for a "news" magazine. (The most obvious recent example - the death of Tim Russert, which you totally bypassed - largely because you were "between issues", and then it was no longer newsworthy.) I am not sure where I am going to turn, but I will not be renewing USNWR after my current subscription runs out.

Current Subscription Holders

Wht will happen to those subscriptions that were paid for, to receive the magazine every week? Will our subscriptions double in length because of the changes?

New U.S. News

I was a U.S. News subscriber for years and always enjoyed its balanced focus. As a respected, older colleague advised then, "If you want liberal news, read -x-. If you want conservative news, read -y-. If you just want the news, read USN&WR." I found his advice to be very appropriate.

Since the advent of the Internet, I've found myself relying more on it for news than printed media and canceled all printed news magazines over time. In recent years, I've been struggling to get through the popular culture 'news' that prevails on most sites to, once again, just get the news.

I'm rediscovering U.S. News and am very happy to see it's quality hasn't been lost. Please keep up the good work, give me the latest news, and continued good analysis for when I have time to delve further than the headlines. Thanks!
