I think President Obama has done an Outstanding Job

Handling the very important issues in front of him

at present!!!I also believe that his Wife is the best

1st. Lady that we have Ever had in Politics. He is COOL

as any person could be under adverse conditions. I

changed from Rep. to Dem. because of him and his wife

and children. I am Personally Sick and Tired of all the

adverse publicity surrounding him because People dont

like successful people and they want to put him down

because of their own problems. Leave him alone to do his Job. I have never seen a President that has

surounded himself with the best money could buy with

no Bias. He is the BEST!!!! The heck with the rest.

I am a Proud MARINE from Chicago and he is and always

will be my Hero. If you dont Like it. Too Bad.

Editor's Note

My wife and I live in San Antonio, Texas. We are both

college graduates, and I have a small computer business

while my wife is a retired school teacher.

We both strongly support Obama. He is thoughtful, and

careful about his decision making. If only we had had

such a thinker during our Vietnam disaster. At that time I was a combat medic. We had a saying; "Kill for Peace". I would venture to say this has been our nation's motto in use the last 50 years.

Another thought: It takes only one psychaitrist to change a light bulb but the light bulb has to want to change. Or as my wife, the teacher says; "NO teaching

takes place if the student has NO desire to learn." This might help explain why we were able to bring WWII to a close in only four years but haven't won a battle since.

Perhaps Obama will prove clever enough to leave 'our'

oil alone and instead use this country's great wealth to

create abundant green energy and save this tired earth as well.

We humans, like all other evolved forms of life seem hell bent for leather on reproducing at impossible rates and then competing for the ever diminishing resources.

We MUST arrive at a higher level of morality and intelligence if we wish to survive and NOT destroy this

wonderful planet of ours. If WE don't solve this problem, then god will!

Failings of US News

We are in total agreement with the Budke's of Florida in their JUne comments. We, as subscribers of more than 40 years, don't like your new magazine, and we're not about to sit in front of a monitor to read whatever news you wish to convey. The special issues don't do anything at all for us and are mostly material to put in our recycling bin. David Pinkard

Article in magazine

This is in response to a recent article in US News & World Report, contained in the special edition devoted to President Obama & some of his cabinet. At the end of your article on what the government was doing to help the economy, you stated for us, the readers, to give our opinion on what to do to help the economy. My only suggestion is to go by what President Abraham Lincoln said many years ago, having read it in Ann Landers's daily column. Lincoln's words are as relevent today as they ever were, and are as follows:

SOMETHING TO REMEMBER

You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.

You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.

You cannot help little men by tearing down big men.

You cannot help the wage earner by pulling down the wage payer.

You cannot further brotherhood by encouraging class hatred.

You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.

You cannot establish sound security on borrowed money.

You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than you earn.

I read this years ago, liked it then and like it even better now. Our country would benefit greatly if all of us used these words as a guide, not only government but civilians as well should heed these words.

us news evolution and june obama issue

In the eighties when we first subscribed to US NEWS, we did so because we are in the political middle and at that time US NEWS reporting was much more fair than NEWSWEEK or TIME. Currently, with the changes at US NEWS and the loss of current information due to the very sparse "special issues" and the reporting moving very far to the left, US NEWS now joins NEWSWEEK, TIME and PEOPLE in the vapid and vacuous land of mainstream media. Do you really think you should try to compete with NEWSWEEK for the number of times Obama appears on your cover? The entire issue has been like most of your "special issues" - completely puerile. The articles were conspicuous by what was omitted. "aka Rahm Emanuel [dead fish Emanuel] and Reagan's deficits achieved the longest economic expansion in American history and the end of the Cold War."

Perhaps you haven't seen the recent polls on conservatives and liberals. You may want to rethink a more balanced approach. Not everyone wants to read a "weekly" magazine in front of a computer. Please see that we have been longtime subscribers, but due to the recent changes, we are done with US NEWS.

OBAMA

I believe Obama is about to fundamentally change America and not for good. He is moving us toward Socialism . Very frightening. Government control, not good.

Obama Revolution

Thank you for asking - readers are not often asked.

It is an Obama revolution and the public recognized it.

First, the President had no intention of having to deal with the free falling economy, or creating more debt. The unusual emergency spending his team has undertaken is to slow or turn the economy around. The critics have not suggested any viable alternative including Rush L. who wants him to fail. Cutting taxes has been proven not to work and the fallacy that revenue will go up has been proven false. President Obama is honest with everyone even at severe, inevitable political risk. He is proposing reform in regulation, education, energy, environment, and health care because they all need fixing - from historical expoitation and disregard by several administrations - both

parties. The Republicans are irrelevant at this point. Their

leadership and policies are bankrupt. Those who are throwing out

the term Socialist (or even Communist) are just not willing to

look beyond their ideology - they are dead wrong and do not deserve attention from media like you. Thanks again

How to replenish

By November the economy will stabilize and 2010 will be a growth year. Limbaugh, Hannity, and O'Rielly will be proven wrong to anybody with common sense. (Or at least having a memory that last two years.)
