Republicans Must Lose the Titans of Glib and Greed: Limbaugh, Drudge, Coulter
By John Aloysius Farrell, Thomas Jefferson Street blog
I have argued in this space that Republican critiques of Barack Obama's economic prescriptions are not, per se, a bad thing.
Opposition parties keep them that's in power honest. They slow things down a bit. Sound minority principles can even save a majority from itself.
That's why I'm a bit worried about what's going on in the GOP in the last few weeks. It seems that it's a party of polemics.
The country, if you haven't noticed, is in a bit of a crisis. Even those of us who supported Audacity last fall have to wonder, from time to time, if he's up to the challenge of dealing with so many serious problems, so soon, so fast.
It would be nice to have some GOP grown-ups pitching in for the old US of A. Let me ask, one American to another: Hey Republicans! You got any good ideas to add to the debate?
Other than "No." Or "I hope he fails."
Are you really content to have such relentlessly negative voices as Rush Limbaugh and Matt Drudge and Ann Coulter represent you in the national debate? They who have two proven attributes in life: Greed and Glib.
How long are you going to force a bright young kid like Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal to spout dogmatic gibberish about creationism, the evils of government and Katrina? Are you happy seeing your newly elected party chairman on his knees before the shabby likes of Limbaugh?
Foreign policy is a different story. Bob Gates agreed to stay on and help the national interest in Iraq. John McCain gave an impressive speech on Afghanistan last week, and Dick Lugar made the courageous suggestion that we might just want to ease our harsh foreign policy toward Cuba, seeing as how the Cold War's been over for 20 years now.
But when it comes to the economy: Nada.
Obama needs your help, folks. Heck, all of us need your help. Can we forget about the base, for just six months or so, and think about the country?

LISTENERS BEWARE AND VERY CAREFUL!!!!!!
THEY ALL HAVE THE SAME RACIST IDEAS AS HE, FULL OF HATRED
Rush is a good man
I salute to the man who stands for value. It takes guts and strong will. A man who accepts all types of bad repor.
I would like all the readers know that any man who has a sound mind and one who values value is wise. He is the one who stands tall with confidence because wisdom is on his side. Those who think otherwise, take the wax out of your ears and listen. And listen before you speak.
agree that Rush is positive
Agree that Rush offers positive ideas, as do others like Jindhal. But the Dems never want to discuss IDEAS. I know, from personal experience, they'd rather attack the messenger than debate the message. I say GO RUSH GO BOBBY GO ANYBODY who bring the jackals running Congress to heel. Yeah, they'll attack you (so stay brave) but WE THE PEOPLE ARE LISTENING TO YOU. The jackals have lost their credibility, along with the Top Dog who (LIED) vowed to eschew earmarks. This ain't eschewing, this is biting off MAMMOTH CHUNKS. Of your money - of your kids' money - of your grandkids' money - ad nauseum.
