I learned grammer and spellin, but could never figure out the irony
Leaving myself to my own self's devises, I could not hear the whoosh sounds as the jokes flew over my head.
Grammar and Spelling
It's "leaving us all to our own devices." not "Leaving we all to our own devises".
This is a fragment. It is a phrase that is part of the previous sentence. It is not a sentence in and of itself.
"Leaving" is a form of a verb that requires an object here. Ergo "us" not "we".
"Devises" is a verb. In this case, the noun, "devices", is required as it is the object of the preposition, "to".
