Caroline Kennedy would be a breath of fresh air in the Senate. She is totally qualified by virtue of owing no favors to anyone at this time. She would not be out for self gain like most of our politicans. Three cheers for Caroline.

Caroline Kennedy shouldn't be appointed to the Senate seat; one of the many women who have established themselves as hard working representatives of the people should be promoted to that seat. It might be a woman in state government; it might be a woman in the House of Representatives--there are 5 from New York. It might be an outstanding citizen who has shown leadership skills on her own--not someone who has written a couple of books and been on some boards. If New York wants to help Caroline get a start in politics, then appoint one of the representatives to the Senate, and let Caroline start in the House--or is she too good for the "House of Commons"?

New Yorkers demand juggernauts for senators; Kennedy is thereby a natural choice. Her selfless dedication to public service is indicative of her character, will and drive to do what is right for the mere sake of doing it right. Kennedy will not strive to compromise for political gain (for what is there to gain with Kennedy in your name?) but instead thoughtfully advocate policies that are prudent, relevant and socially admirable.
If you seek change, then naturally you seek reflective, well-rounded professionals who will not accept Washington's glacier pace and adherence to status quo.
Shake it up. Stir it up. Hire the juggernaut with a reputation that precedes her presence and thereby demands immediate clout...

People with no political background should RUN for office and not be appointed for office. It would be interesting to see if she can handle the job. She's a very smart woman, but I'm not sure if she's tough enough. I guess she'll have two years to prove herself.
