People choose to believe what they want to beleive

The comparison with Oskar Schindler is almost insulting to the memory of a man who actually tired tosave human beings from being murdered.

What has Obama ever done to protect unborn children?

Answer: NOTHING

Instead he supports the biggest aborter of children in the world - Planned Parenthood.

Instead he votes AGAINST protecting children who survive abortions.

Instead he promises to sign into law te Freedom of Choice Act which will insure the continuation of abortion in this country.

I find it interesting that people will argue so vehemently about his vote against the Born Alive Infant Protection Act.If the ACt would only repeat waht was in the law already, why vote against it? Except that it was a veiled attack on Roe - accordingto Obama - whaich means that he is pro-abortion, not simply pro-choice as he claims.

And did he ever support any parental consent laws?

And is he in favor of spending your tax dollars on abortion?

Apologists for Obama do not care about abortion and they will lie to confuse the public.

As for being in favor of families and children, Biden and Obama have a dismal personal record of helping the poor and the downtrodden out of theri own pocketbooks. All they really want to do is contol our money and force us to spread the wealth around. No thank you. I will support the charities of my choice. I will help woemn and children without the government mandate. I will spend my time offering real help and hope to women - not government dependence that attacks their dignity and self respect.

MR. FARRELL, LISTEN TO THE TEACHING OF THE CHURCH

rchbishop Chaput Says He's No Kmiec

Affirms Defense of Life as Top Church Priority

DENVER, Colorado, OCT. 17, 2008 (Zenit.org).- Archbishop Charles Chaput says Catholic legal scholar Douglas Kmiec "couldn't be more mistaken" in comparing his own moral reasoning regarding the 2008 presidential election to that of the archbishop.

Archbishop Chaput said this tonight at a dinner sponsored by ENDOW (Educating on the Nature and Dignity of Women). The talk, which he said reflects his own opinion as a private citizen, is titled "Little Murders."

The prelate spoke at length of Douglas Kmiec’s book "Can a Catholic Support Him? Asking the Big Question about Barack Obama," in which the Pepperdine law professor argues why Catholics should cast their vote in November's presidential election for Senator Barack Obama.

Kmiec publicly endorsed the Democratic candidate earlier this year, stating in an article for Slate that Obama is a "natural" for Catholic voters.

Archbishop Chaput noted that his own book, "Render Unto Caesar," was heavily cited by Kmiec in his defense of Obama: "In fact, he suggests that his reasoning and mine are 'not far distant on the moral inquiry necessary in the election of 2008.'"

"Unfortunately, he either misunderstands or misuses my words, and he couldn’t be more mistaken," said the archbishop.

No regrets

"I believe that Senator Obama, whatever his other talents, is the most committed 'abortion-rights' presidential candidate of either major party since the Roe v. Wade abortion decision in 1973," he added. "Despite what [....] Kmiec suggests, the party platform Senator Obama runs on this year is not only aggressively 'pro-choice; ' it has also removed any suggestion that killing an unborn child might be a regrettable thing."

The prelate affirmed that the platform of the Democratic Party that emerged from its national convention in August "is clearly anti-life."

"Kmiec argues that there are defensible motives to support Senator Obama," continued Archbishop Chaput. "Speaking for myself, I do not know any proportionate reason that could outweigh more than 40 million unborn children killed by abortion and the many millions of women deeply wounded by the loss and regret abortion creates."

The prelate continued: "To suggest -- as some Catholics do -- that Senator Obama is this year’s 'real' pro-life candidate requires a peculiar kind of self-hypnosis, or moral confusion, or worse..

"To portray the 2008 Democratic Party presidential ticket as the preferred 'pro-life' option is to subvert what the word 'pro-life' means."

Archbishop Chaput said he thought Kmiec's endorsement of Obama has "done a disservice to the Church, confused the natural priorities of Catholic social teaching, undermined the progress pro-lifers have made, and provided an excuse for some Catholics to abandon the abortion issue instead of fighting within their parties and at the ballot box to protect the unborn."

Uncomfortable

"The truth is that for some Catholics, the abortion issue has never been a comfortable cause," said the Denver prelate. "It’s embarrassing. It’s not the kind of social justice they like to talk about. It interferes with their natural political alliances.

"And because the homicides involved in abortion are 'little murders' -- the kind of private, legally protected murders that kill conveniently unseen lives -- it’s easy to look the other way."

The archbishop called it "wrong and often dishonest [...] to neutralize the witness of bishops and the pro-life movement by offering a 'Catholic' alternative to the Church’s priority on sanctity of life issues."

"As I suggest throughout 'Render Unto Caesar,' it’s important for Catholics to be people of faith who pursue politics to achieve justice; not people of politics who use and misuse faith to achieve power," he said.

Archbishop Chaput lamented that for 35 years he's watched the pro-abortion lobby fight tooth-and-nail against the pro-life movement: "Apparently they believe in their convictions more than some of us Catholics believe in ours. And I think that’s an indictment of an entire generation of American Catholic leadership."

The prelate continued by affirming that being pro-life is much deeper than looking to overturn Roe v. Wade, or being a "single issue" voter: "The cornerstone of Catholic social teaching is protecting human life from conception to natural death. [...] Every other human right depends on the right to life."

He added: "So I think that people who claim that the abortion struggle is 'lost' as a matter of law, or that supporting an outspoken defender of legal abortion is somehow 'pro-life,' are not just wrong; they’re betraying the witness of every person who continues the work of defending the unborn child.

"And I hope they know how to explain that, because someday they’ll be required to."

AS USUAL FARRELL HAS IT WRONG

Mr. Farrell, for an obviously intelligent columnist, your logic is appalling... You have reversed the issue and turned logic on its head.

You ask the question, "Because Oskar Schindler could save only 1,200 Jews by bribing and working with the Nazis during the Holocaust, should he have declined to save any?" This is not the actual circumstance.

The question should be, "Since Oskar Schindler saved 1200 Jews why should we attempt to save any more or perhaps even them all?" Which is Mr. Farrell's actual position.

There are hundreds of the of Catholic and other Christian pregnancy crisis centers that attempt to stem the unseen holocaust in the womb. Even so, a million a year, or more, die for the sake of convenience - Not health.

Further, we should note that all human rights begin in the womb - The problem is, ending them there.

ABORTION

EVERY CHILD CONCEIVED HAS A RIGHT TO LIFE. PRO CHOICE DOES NOT BELIEVE THAT. PRO CHOICE BELIEVES THE MOTHER IS THE ONLY ONE WITH ANY RIGHTS.

Politics and abortion

Sen. McCain says he believes that human life begins at conception, but is in favor of killing embryos that are the result of conception done in a lab in the hope of getting stem cells that can replace diseased human organs.

Both candidates have poor abortion or embryonic stem-cell records or positions, except that McCain says he is the pro-life candidate.

Why not look at third party candidates? Sure they won't win this election, but if they can grow they will be a factor in future elections. Alan Keyes of the American Independent Party is pro-life, for example.

Has no one noticed that we already have five Catholics on the Supreme Court who can overturn Roe anytime they choose?

abortion

I agree with obama: everyone has a set of values but has to respect other people´s.

Catholics Supporting Pro-Abortion Candidate Is REJECTING JESUS!

Jesus said to HIS disciples: Whoever listens to you listens to me, whoever REJECTS YOU REJECTS ME(Luke 10:16). Pope Benedict and bishops clearly said that abortion is so INTRINSICALLY EVIL that Catholics CANNOT SUPPORT any politician who SUPPORTS ABORTION.

Obama THE MOST PRO-ABORTION PRESIDENTIAL candidate in the modern history. Obama’s stand on abortion is SO EXTREME that even Nancy Pelosi, Clinton, Boxer, Kennedy DO NOT SHARE with Obama’s postion. Obama, as a Illinois state senator, VOTED four times AGAINST providing medical care to NEW BORN-ALIVE BABIES, letting them DIE, while ALL DEMOCART SENOATORS including Nancy Pelosi VOTED FOR the identical federal bill, BORN ALIVE INFANT PROTECTION ACT.

Obama also supports PARTIAL BIRTH ABORTION, whose procedure is SO GRUESOME that people EVEN DIDN’T WANT TO SHOW THE PICTURE OF ABORTED BABIES who could live, if the mother CHOSE a delivery room instead of an abortionist. There are people who SURVIVED an ABORTION and one of them speaks AGAINST Obama.

At the third debate, Obama said that he VOTED AGAINST a ban on PARTIAL-BIRTH ABORTION because the bill did not include the exception of woman’s health. DO YOU KNOW what categories are INCLUDED in woman’s HEALTH ISSUE? NEARLY ANYTHING such as woman’s anxiety or any other trivial reasons AS LONG AS they ARE LABELED AS WOMEN’S HEALTH ISSUE. So Obama is DECEIVING YOU!

Fellow Citizen, Obama is SUPPORTING BRUTAL KILLING OF PRE-BORN BABIES without ANASTASIA and DENYING IMMEDIATE MEDICAL CARE TO BORN-ALIVE BABIES.

If we vote for Obama, we are COOPERATING IN EVIL. History will JUDGE US!

Senator Obama on Abortion

In the third presidential debate Senator Obama made the claim that he would ban Partial Birth abortions if protection was given with regards to the health of the mother. This is an empty argument since the baby is killed after it has been 90% delivered and only its head is still in the womb. The mother's health is not in jeopardy for that last second it takes to deliver the baby. He is just being dishonest. Take a look at this video which goes into detail of this hideous procedure.

Fewer abortions and healthier children with Obama

Actually there would be fewer abortions with Obama because children would get the proper sex education. Sarah Palin's daughter was denied this education due to extreme religious beliefs and got pregnant at a very young age with no husband. Also because people would be economically better off with Obama, there would be less abortions due to financial hardship. Once children are born, fewer would die because of better health care with Obama.

John McCain and other corrupt Republicans caused the savings and loan crash in the early 1990's and now McCain is part of the Republican Culture of Corruption responsible for the current crash. They are now running a disgustingly negative campaign throwing all the mud they can. This is dangerous for our country because it brings out the crazy people seen at recent McCain-Palin rallies.

John McCain is confused, erratic, showing signs of dementia, is not looking healthy, likely to have his melanoma cancer return and is mindlessly spouting lies from his sleazy, dishonest campaign. John McCain has been in lockstep with George W Bush over 90% of the time. Another four years of Bush policies would totally destroy our country and that is what we would get with John McCain. If you believe John McCain's recent campaign lies that suddenly he would be different, then I have a Bridge to Nowhere to sell you.

Sarah Palin is clearly unqualified to be President, is a religious fundamentalist extremist who would take away a women's right to choose and would create an American Taliban reversing all the gains in civil rights. For the sake of our country, we must make sure that Barack Obama is elected President.

Having said that, Obama as President would be smart to have some moderate Republicans on his team because we are all Americans and need to work together in bipartisan fashion to solve our problems.
