so install hussein obama the marxist?

no thanks

I guess that you're not aware that people aren't taking the use of the name Hussein seriously and those who say it are not being taken seriously. Therefore, your offensive comment carries no clout whatsoever.

So I think you're alone in this one, person from Vermont who is too cowardly to even write his own name in... I guess you don't stand by your convictions.

Apologies to Anonymous

Obviously, I said "unsubstantiated" comparisons to Hitler. I think Obama has great potential to be a great statesman one day, but needs to get more practical experience and to 'walk the walk' in working with those he disagrees with. Unlike McCain, he has never voted against his party on anything controversial. McCain has the courage to do that.

You take offense to admittedly unsubstantiated comparisons of Obama to Hitler, but I take offense as well to SERIOUS comparisons of Bush to Hitler. Bush hasn't been our best, but he's certainly not that bad.

FOR R.L. SCHAEFER

While I disagree with(some) with your ideas, I very much respect them and their source. I am a victim of rape at an age old enough to get pregnant, but too young to even understand what was happening. I gave birth in a warehouse by myself to a still born boy. I just want to ask, being so opinionated, do you have any adopted children. When the people who oppose woe v wade start caring for all of the unwanted children, and children having children, I will agree. I have adopted, I have been there and I do know. and God loves me.

If I had the money....

I would bet every cent of waste that Congress has pumped into the corrupt, failed organizations Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac over the past twenty years that the polls will show McCain in the lead in a couple weeks! Nobody's running away with this.

Hitler?

You just compared Obama to Hitler? Well, you certainly lost this thread.

Maybe you should read your Bible. Leviticus is very clear: life is in the blood. Embryos have no blood until the end of the first trimester; they don't produce their own blood until well into the second. Until then, they're not really alive, at least not according to any Christian or Jew.

Maybe you should read your Bible more often; someone who would equate the dream of Martin Luther King with an anti-Semetic monster is clearly in need of moral guidance

McCain is toast and this is why

First, the issue of abortion is purely politics. The reason is that States control it and not the Feds. Overturning Roe v. Wade would not do anything about abortion. The Republicans can't do anything about it, other than using the wedge issue to drive their religious base into a rage against Democrats. It is used to manipulate voters on both side, truth be told.

Second, the issue of debates. McCain has no legislative role in the committees reviewing the bailout. He could easily do as much from the road as in DC. He is using this STUNT to avoid a much larger issue. That of Rick Davis' company, owned by his campaign manager, taking millions from Freddie Mac while working for McCain.

Thirdly, McCain's polling numbers are in a free fall due to all the bad press about Palin. She came with a huge amount of baggage that Schmidt can lie under the rug. The press has reacted by getting tough on their campaign which McCain did not expect as he has had them all snowed. He had to change the narrative or the race would be lost in the next week. Thus, "CRISIS" and a trip to DC along with suspending campaign.

Fourth, McCain is losing this as he tries newly spun creations on us every day and just can't get traction. His inept campaign needs the time to regroup and he is going to DC to distract attention from that fact.

The list goes on and keeps getting worse. There is Carly Fiorino with her huge CEO golden parachute of over 20 Million and Keating Five comparisons waiting in the wings. McCain is toast and his antics won't stop that. They just dig the hole deeper.

DEATH OF THE INNOCENT

Ca. Mommy,

I apologize for having to answer you in this public forum, unfortunately I have no option. I chose not to respond to the attacks of others since their ideas and positions are clearly illogical and unreasoned.

*********

Just a quick question for you.

What do you say to all the children who are now here because their mothers had abortions earlier in life?

My daughter is three. She is here because ten years ago, unbearable circumstances drove me to seek an abortion. Later on, I met my husband and we have a wonderful, happy family.

I repeat, what do you say to my daughter? She, and thousands like her, are here because their mothers had abortions when the time for parenthood wasn't right. Should planned children be denied their lives so that unwanted pregnancies can be carried to term?

**I would say nothing to your daughter, but I would to you. If you were not ready for a family than you should have acted responsibly regarding sex. Failing that, you should have acted responsibly toward the child you carried. No one can say how that would have changed your life. You say, "...time for parenthood wasn't right." I suspect there are millions of happy children alive today born to parents who didn't feel the time was right. The path would certainly have been different. Perhaps you would have loved that child in a deep and wonderful way - Perhaps that child would have grown into a wonderful older sister for your current child. You will never know now. This is what comes from playing God - Deciding who will live and who will die based on convenience and timing. As a mother you know that the child you carried was a human life - At this point only God knows the life that might have been. But I believe that child is now with God in a mysterious and wonderful way and that, one day, you may in fact know them. **

There is a bright side to your "darkly evil" "murder of innocents" and my daughter, whom I wanted so very much, is that light.

**The death of one child can never be vindicated by the life of the next. Both lives are equally precious - Neither is least in the eyes of God.**

I certainly hope you'll not put the fate of our nation and indeed the world into the hands of an unstable man and his uninformed running mate just because of your stance on abortion. Don't you know that the Republicans will NEVER overturn Roe v Wade?

**I don't think any party is the "party of God". I also don't believe that Roe vs. Wade will be overturned. As a nation, we have become too hedonistic, too careless and narcissistic. A nation, largely made up of selfish victims - The "me generation" in full flower. It can never turn away from the idea of itself as the center of the universe - A spot once occupied by God.

You also mention that you think McCain is "unstable"...That's an opinion I see no evidence of...He is certainly flawed, but less flawed, I think, than Obama."

I wish you well.

** And I, you...**

Hey, VT, do you go around calling everyone by their middle name you moron? Keep your racist, bigoted remarks to your own freak self.

Presidential Juggling

Probably more than half of this country can find some reason to HATE at least one of the two major candidates. Here's the problem, one of these guys has to be our President. This isn't like a football game, where if the Cowboys win, as a Redskins fan I can shrug it off, say we'll get em next year and continue hating. Here, I have to live with the circumstances created by my leaders for 4 and likely more years, depending on the political office.

Find something to like about your guy or gal and go with that.

Perhaps McCain felt it was in the country's best interest to put his campaign on hold.

From my perspective, what I like is that Obama said presidents have to do more than one thing at a time. I think this is true, particularly given that many of us feel our economy suffered because our leaders were too busy focusing their energy overseas. We have to do both. I wish that I, that we all, could show as much patience as Mr. Obama.

There is some truth here, but being afraid to debate? Get real!

McCain slaughtered Obama at the last debate and will everytime the two get together. Or did we forget about the Saddleback debate already? Obama: "I uhh...well, uhh, can give a, uhh brilliant speech, but, uhh... I sound like Bush when I debate".

These debates rarely have substance, but rather Americans think the victor is the one who made the right face. Take Al Gore trying to stare down George Bush in 2000. Bush made a face that completely mocked Gore and his failed intimidation. When facing Kerry 4 years later Bush lost much when he looked uncomfortable (like a small boy) in his chair while Kerry spoke. This is the 'substance' that Americans get out of their precious debate. What the hell did they talk about in the 2000 and 2004 debates again?

Obama has a list of many strengths to offer that McCain clearly lacks. Moving away from the teleprompter, providing specifics and debating are not on that list.
