Poll: Do You Support the House Healthcare Bill's Abortion Plan?

Constitution Vs. Entitlement
We, as a nation, need to determine our commitment to the Constitution.
If you want to dismiss it, say that's what you want to do.
Don't claim to support the constitution, and then violate it.
The Constitution guarantees our personal rights, it does not give us any sort of right to a service provided by another person.
Right now, any child who gets sick is taken care of by medicaid or non profit children's hospitals(which, coincidentally, will be heavily taxed under this bill).
No adult who is physically or mentally able to work is "entitled" to anything other than their personal freedoms.
But, as I said, if you want to get rid of the Constitution, let the people decide.
Why don't we just decide that people are entitled to a nice car, a house, an HD TV, and WHATEVER THE HELL ELSE WE JUST FEEL LIKE WE DESERVE?
Oh, wait, I think that's already been tried in places like Russia... That worked out well, didn't it?
health care abortion
Abortion is a legal medical opton. If we start to restrict options that conflict with the moral or religious views where mi9ght it stop. Some do not agree with birthcontrol or stem cell treatments. These people have the right to decline whatever they wish to decline. They do not have the right to decide health care that others want and need. I repeat abortion is a legal medical option.
Health should be a right.
abortion for poor vs rich
Women with money could always get the best birth control & abortion when that failed. Poorer woman are frequently not aware of the best birth control measures & do not have availability through insurance. When they become pregnant they have few alternatives. In addition, this new amendment puts you in the position that if you use YOUR OWN MONEY for an abortion, YOU MAY LOSE YOUR INSURANCE! So even people with money are at risk of losing full coverage!

Do you take any medications? Do you smoke? Whether you like it or not, all of out taxpayer dollars go to fund millions of projects and societal issues that we as individuals might not support. For instance, high blood pressure medication for someone who doesn't exercise and take care of themselves with regards to eating a healthful diet. You pay for individuals to have smoking-cessation medication. Vegetarians and vegans who don't suffer from high cholesterol pay for those who may eat meat and dairy......it's all about the big picture Mark. I don't like funding a war in Iraq or Afghanistan, but I surely support our troups and their safety.
Big picture people.
I am not paying for your abortion
If a woman decides to have an abortion, she should pay for it, not me.
Abortion happens whether you admit it or not.
An article From the NY Times
"ROME, Oct. 11 — A comprehensive global study of abortion has concluded that abortion rates are similar in countries where it is legal and those where it is not, suggesting that outlawing the procedure does little to deter women seeking it.
Moreover, the researchers found that abortion was safe in countries where it was legal, but dangerous in countries where it was outlawed and performed clandestinely. Globally, abortion accounts for 13 percent of women’s deaths during pregnancy and childbirth, and there are 31 abortions for every 100 live births, the study said.
"
So it's going to happen whether it's "available" or not.
If you want to take it from a purely fiscal standpoint, a one time fee for abortion is a whole lot cheaper than the $1000's of subsidies every month people pay for welfare kids.
If you want to take it from an emotional standpoint. Raising a kid you can't afford or don't want is a whole lot more emotional than an abortion. Giving a kid up for adoption into a system where they are very likely to be abused and passed around like they are subhuman is very emotional. (did you know it's easy to adopt a kid from overseas than from our own system?)
If you want to look at it from a "good for society" standpoint, it is better for society to have people who actually feel they were "wanted" than the low self-esteem from knowing you were and unwanted burden to your parents.
If you want to look at it from a family perspective, if a loving father were in the picture, chances are abortion would not be on the list of "choices" for the mother.
If you want to look at it from a biblical perspective take a look at what your god ordered in:
Numbers 31:17
Deuteronomy 2:34
Deuteronomy 28:53
I Samuel 15:3
2 Kings 8:12
2 Kings 15:16
Isaiah 13:16
Isaiah 13:18
Lamentations 2:20
Ezekiel 9:6
Hosea 9:14
Hosea 13:16
If you want to look at what the bible says about causing misscariage look at Ex. 21:22-25
If you want to look at it from a human perspective, consider that 1 out of 6 people on this planet is currently labeled as "starving".
Why are you forcing women you do not want, are not financially capable, are not emotionally capable to have kids.
Why are you not forcing them to take family planning education and promoting contraceptive use? Condoms would prevent most (if not all) of unwanted pregnancies so the emotional distress of having to choose between having a baby or not, giving it up or not is no longer an issue.
For everyone who opposes condom use (Especially all catholics) why are you FORCING married couples to have kids if they are not ready for one? THEY are allowed to have s e x aren't they?
For anyone who won't admit people have s e x outside of marriage....GROW UP!!!
They call them "abortion rights" because they are RIGHTS!
I continue to be baffled by the stupidity and exclusionary viewpoints of the anti choice minority. As a woman, I want INCLUSION of every possible health option (including abortion)for every possible health situation a woman might be faced with. Since each womans situation might present a different "best option" as a solution, do you not agree that whatever that best option is should be decided by the woman and her doctor? I still don't even understand why this is a legislative issue, it's about healthcare. And while I'm on the soapbox,I noticed that the majority of folks who seem to condemn abortion are also against birth control and early sex education - both of which would reduce unwanted pregnancies. How about backing comprehensive sex ed, birth control covered by insurance (like Viagra)and including abortion as a viable option? Those who are opposed to abortions can opt for adoption and those who want abortion should be able to have them. Why is that so difficult?
Abortion
Caroline & Jacob,
Perhaps you should both sit down and watch a video/sonogram of a baby in its first, second or third trimester being aborted and then have a discussion about your differences of opinion about the matter. They are available on the internet (YouTube, Priests for Life) websites. Perhaps you would both learn something from another site, Silent No More Awareness, about what abortion does to women and men spiritually, psychologically, physically, emotionally, too, and then be able to have an intelligent dialogue established between the two of you. You see, abortion is not about women's rights; it's exactly the opposite: abortion is a violation of rights; it's a very abusive procedure; it is the most unregulated surgical procedure in the United States. Abortion has devalued life in our culture, mine, yours, your neighbors. We don't regard eachother as we should. We need to give people life-affirming choices and support, not disregard one another.
Freedom and Liberty for all.. unless you are female
The comments here are made by savages. Shame on you.
You believe in personal liberty do you? You believe that Government has no place in the personal decisions you make? But when it comes to the difficult choices that women make, your liberty ends? It's okay for you to decide for yourself, but you would FORCE someone else to believe as you do?
You execute prisoners every day in the U.S. Where is your pro-life cry there?
You murder babies of families in Iraq every day. Where is your pro-life cry there?
You call welfare moms the most foul and despicable names yet those who try to avoid being another statistic are scorned for that too?
America has become a nation of judges. Good luck at the pearly gates with those attitudes. The Christian Taliban is alive and well.
Abortion
I don't support any plan that deals with abortion even if the plan requires women who want such coverage to purchase a separate abortion coverage rider. Abortion is not health issue. Abortion is the killing of an unborn baby. Therefore, it should have no place in a health bill. The thing that upsets and disturb me(It should upset and disturb other Americans too.)is that our President is continually supporting and promoting abortions in this country. All I can say is: I hope the bill never passes in the Senate just as it did in the House because if that happens it would not be such a good day for many Americans as well as the unborn babies. Many people in my community are upset with Barack Obama because he continues to fund Planned Parenthood with our tax money so they could perform abortions. As you may recall, one of the first things Obama did when he took office was overturn Bush's Mexico City Policy which prevented funding for abortions. Because he overturned it, funding is now permitted for abortions both on the state and federal levels. I'll be glad when he is out of the White House. We need a President who will use a common sense approach that will help us get ahead, not one that will set us back.
