Quote of the (Long) Weekend: Obama on Gay Relationships
By Dan Gilgoff, God & Country
"My expectation is that when you look back on these years . . . . you will see a time in which we as a nation finally recognize relationships between two men or two women as just as real and admirable as relationships between a man and a woman."

The origins of homosexuality
It seems that people want to expain away homosexuality as a fluke of nature or a mistake of God. Neither is right. Who cares where it comes from! The fact is that gay people exist and should have the same rights in our society as others! That is what I don't understand!
Maureen adds to confusion over homosexuality causes
Nobody yet knows all the reasons for homosexuality. Obviously it has something to do with what happens in utero. As an atheist, I reject the claim that "God created everything and everybody." Nature did that and continues to do it. As environments change, evolution moves to adapt organisms to changes. There is no Great Plan in natural processes, but it works perfectly. What seems to be cruelty as animals eat animals, what happens is that Nature limits populations to the area that can support it. I accept my death as part of the necessity to "make room for those who come after. Nature produces homosexuals. From centuries of being maltreated, some closeted gay men became self-protectively mean and vicious toward other gays. Some of the worst attacks on gays are coming from church leaders I would bet are lifetime gays. Obama does great work in demanding national respect for the Constitutional rights of all of us.
jg mentions The Book of Truth as if there's ONE book..
Because so many civil governments enforce church laws (including "Close on Sabbath or Sunday,) & church laws banning abortion & suicide, religion is a major cause of misery & war. The Good Book is precious to believers, but humanity benefits more from science texts & inventions by atheists. Edison, ways to use electricity. Morse, telegraph. Burbank, improve plant harvest & quality, & atheist Smithson, the Smithsonian Institution for advancement of knowledge. Cause of homosexuality is unknown. It's seen by naturalists & zookeepers. I suggest some pregnant women experience deep shock (war or attack or?) and it affects the timing & amount of nutrients flowing to the fetus. (We see what lack of light, water or fertilizer does to plants.) Something happens. I think Nature gives us homosexuals to diminish the number of bullies who cause wars and famines, etc.
