Antiabortion Activists Mourn Loss of Ultrasound Pioneer

By Dan Gilgoff, God & Country

I'm always struck by news stories that receive lots of attention in conservative Christian circles but get much less play in the mainstream media. The murder of Michigan-based abortion foe Jim Pouillon was one recent example.

This week, the death of ultrasound imaging pioneer John Wild is getting notice in both camps. But Wild is being remembered much differently in antiabortion circles.

Check out this article from Focus on the Family Action's daily political alert, CitizenLink:

Life advocates are celebrating the life of John Wild, pioneer of the ultrasound machine, who passed away Sept. 18 at the age of 95.

"Ultrasound has been an irreplaceable tool that has helped women have a window into their womb and bond with their preborn children," said Kelly Rosati, senior director of Focus on the Family's Sanctity of Human Life department.

"An at-risk woman is twice as likely to choose life for her unborn child if she's had an ultrasound after counseling, versus just counseling."

It is estimated that since January 2004, Focus on the Family's Option Ultrasound program has helped to save more than 63,000 babies.

After re-read Schaefer on fewer Ban-Abortion votes

In his 9-28 comment, S admitted Obama won because there was a bigger Pro-Choice vote. In l973, Roe forced our civil government to stop enforcing Canon Law that bans abortion, People use their Constitutional right to control reproduction. Ultrasound lets "pregnant couples" discuss in-utero problems. Some are corrected inside the uterus. If flaws are very bad, prospective parents can say to one another, "Darling, we can't let this beloved conception be born to a potential life of chronic pain, insanity or deformity. Instead of having a child and making excuses for why we let it suffer, let's use abortion and stop cell division. We can try again, unless examination proves you can't safely be a mother. We can use a surrogate or adopt." Ban-Abortionists can't know the men who cause conceptions. They have no right to try to force a MAN to accept being father to an unwanted conception. Men use prostitutes to PROTECT themselves from fatherhood. Ports & military bases have brothels nearby, where transient males relieve themselves without '"bringing home a bastard." I wish more men would join me in making the argument FOR tax-subsidized abortion.

For Christina & Koryo -definition of illiteracy

I made a typo on the word "llliteracy" & didn't correct it, as it would be called "double posting." Illiterate people can't read or write. C & K misused language by saying I'm illiterate. I'm a published author of prose and prize-winning poetry. VP Mondale & I had articles in the same issue of "The Humanist." I did secretarial work for lawyers & company presidents. For an export company, I wrote sales catalogs in French. I was offered a reporter job for "Saudi Gazette" but had to leave. I wrote an art review for a Beirut paper. I was paid to write a travelers' guide. Playwright Saroyan praised a short play I wrote in high school. I was the leading female character in 4 years of high school plays, with intensive use of language skills. I founded & directed an art association, composed the rules & managed sales. I have a portfolio of over 40 published letters to editors. I coached organization members in use of rules of parliamentary procedure. The discussion topic was to gratefully memorialize the ultrasound inventor. I added what I know. My atheist comments brought the usual attacks made on freethought by people who tithe. They don't like to be told they might not be making a good investment.
