New Ad Says Obamacare Will Finance Abortion, Deny Surgery for Seniors

July 29, 2009 12:14 PM ET | Dan Gilgoff | Permanent Link | Print

"They won't pay for my surgery, but we're forced to pay for abortions," gripes a senior in this provocative new ad from Family Research Council Action. It will air in five states: Pennsylvania, Arkansas, Alaska, Louisiana, and Nebraska. "The ad urges opposition to a healthcare plan that will deny care to 'our greatest generation' and deny life to 'our future generation,' " FRC Action says in a news release.

It strikes me that the Family Research Council's anti-Obamacare blitz is aimed not only at derailing the Democrats but also at showing the GOP how helpful the group could be as the party wonders how much it should be relying on religious conservatives.

National healthcare - Abortion

I find it disturbing that our government would require us to fund the murders of children. This is not only reprehensable and immoral but anti- American. What are they doing with our Freedom of choice. Apparently takeing it away. Truely a vote for Obama was a vote against America.

Reformed Health Care Plan

OMG.. Does this mean, that if President Obama's Health Care plan gets passed, does this mean that his mother in law be denied surgeory?

Also, too, why does he refer to the developmental disabled as "Retarded"? Will the developmentally disabled be denied surgeory too? The senior citizens and the disabled are the most vurnable.

I am really really disappointed in our President already. He did say changes, but this is rediculas..

I take issue with illegal aliens to be given free health care insurance, while we are paying through the nose for ours.

Will we have to give up the doctors that we already have? What about our specialist.. So my government will dictating to me an my family, and to all in this country, a "free" country, on what when it is ok, to seek medical attention..

Well God Bless America!

Scare tactics

Did American's learn anything from 8 years of Bush scare tactics?

Have people noticed the Insurance companies are spending millions lobbying congress to prevent reform. Don't they wonder why?

They are interested in making money. I don't know of ANY insurance company that is interested in my health. If they were, they would have a list I could consult of places I could choose for affordable and quality care. (ie: CAT scans, MRI, colonoscopy etc.)

So far, I've changed insurance companies 5 times in my lifetime. (when I've changed jobs).

I've had 2 insurance companies cancel my policy in the last 10 years. My zip code was the Chelsea area of Manhattan, hard hit by AIDS. I can only wonder why?

The last time I was in a group of independent artists, writers, computer people; lawyers for the insurance consortium found a questionable loophole to cancel the entire range of policies. (Cutting at least a minimum of 1000 people off health care.)

The Health Group we signed with struggled to help us get other coverage. Of course if you take any medication( ie: lipitor, Lisinipril) these are considered treating "pre-existing conditions" which meant some of us could only get "catastrophic coverage". Our group did not have the money to fight. My insurance premiums are now paid by my brother. I'm lucky.

Imagine if the Fire Department and the Police Departments refused to come to your emergency. They turn down no one. We pay for that (Oh, noooo! I think that's socialism!)

Shouldn't we expect that a country this wealthy be able to afford healthcare for everyone?

One reason Internists are leaving practices is because the paper work involved with Insurance companies is costing them a fortune, constrictions around scheduling 15 minutes for each patient, spending large portions of time dealing with drug companies etc.

The system, we have now, works until you need them...then they don't need you.
