Tom is crazy

Speaking of lack of evidence... What the heck is Tom talking about? Should we not be worried about racism, or social justice? Didn't Jesus, Our living Savoir, care about these things? Also, president Obama is not the only person in charge of this county and it is not possible for him to surround our government with the "Mob" bosses. Maybe you should research what you are saying and read "a" book. I used to not think that people in the county could be racist, but the more I think about it and see comments like this, the more I think people are very racist and scared. And I think too many people in this county have lost a critical thought ability known as empathy. To speak that abortion, or gay clergy, or female priests are a simple issue and just wrong, without truly understanding the struggles of people who are affected by those issues, is not seeking the peace of Christ. I know it may be easy to hate abortion and gays and feel like that is the only personal justification you need to go to heaven, but there IS MUCH more to the gospel and the bible. There is also much more to the Church. Greed, Lust, Gluttony, Sloth, Wrath, Pride, Envy are the seven deadly sins. How would it look if we were to condemn others for these things. There would be no saint among us. Lets focus on Christ and true Christian values from now on.

Obama

Are we as Catholics for or against life? Our Bishops worried more about racism, and so called "social justice" than the unborn. Our Church has been over run with liberalism, the Cathic Sisters have proven that, who no support abortion, active homosexulity, women priest and claim to be champions of "social justice". Obama is spreading Marxism, but the liberals just don't get it or don't want to get it. He has surrounded himself and our government with socialist, Marxists and baby killers. Obama has spent our nation into bankruptcy, by funding his special interest "hate organizations" Alcorn STORM, etc. and wants to take the freedom so speak in the airwaves from us. His Czars are morons, mostly from the Chicago Mob, and one even said kill babies before their two years old if we have a population problem (read their books) research what I am saying, don't just see the Messiah Obama as God and have tunnel vision to the destruction, freedom, a nation, and our Christian morals.

We should see the good in Obama

Obama's actions in his life does not reflect on some one who whould murder. He has led a remarkable and good life. He has been a faithful husband and devoted father. He has honored his father and Mother and been a devoted grandson to his grandparents. He has studied deligently throughout his school years, and he has attentded church services faithfully. He has shown care for the poor and has worked hard to help them. On the subject of Abortion he needs all our prayers and good will to convince him that abortion is evil. If we truly love one another we will help him to understand this. I think the Pope sees the good in Obama and knows the power of prayer.

Liberal Catholic and Abortion

"Liberal Catholic", Dan...Really? What is that exactly? It couldn't be a Catholic who supports abortion as Obama does. The very decision to support abortion, then you have by definition excommunicated yourself from the Catholic Church. By supporting abortion one turns their back on the most important and fundamental teachings of the Catholic church: the gift of life. I have to at least question why a politician, of all people, would want to kill future constituants. Ponder it for a while, Dan. And while you're pondering that, I'm a Pro-lifer, not "anti-aboirtion". If you must use "anti", I'm "anti-death", "anti-baby murder", "anti-anti-women's health"...you get the picture.

By the way, I'd love to see an article written by anyone in the secular media (or any media) that explains exactly how abortion is a beneficial medical procedure. How does the a mother benefit from this elective procedure , and what are the risks involved to the mother? How does abortion benefit the child? And who regulates the abortion facilities? Does one have to have a special degree to perform an abortion, or is it open season on women? (Perhaps a hunting license?)

Love and Truth First:

The US Catholic Bishops know the word of the Lord. They also know the commandments (We shall not Kill). They have lived their lives studying and sharing the words of Jesus.

Jesus made it very clear (Love God and Love Your Neighbor).

There is no doubt in my mind that the U.S. Bishops do not support abortion. If President Obama supports abortion then I am sure the Bishops don't support that decision.

Abortion is war against love.

Abortion kills unborn children and that is not love.

President Obama seems to be a good family man and has compassion for the people of the United States and people around the world. I am sure the Bishops support Presdent Obama on his compassion for people. I am sure the Bishops have hope and have been praying that President Obama's compassion and love grows.

This is not Love (Abortion Kills):

- 3200 unborn babies slaughtered a day in America.

- 1.2 Million unborn babies slaughtered in America each year.

- More than 45 Million unborn babies slaughtered since 1973.

Gilgoff is right

O'Brien doesn't have evidence for his assertion that most bishops support Obama, which is why his piece ran in the left-leaning National Catholic Reporter, a notoriously dissident publication with its own agenda.

After the fact there's not a whole lot that can be done re ND. If the bishops were embarrassed about ND, it was because ND's administration blatantly refused to follow the bishops' guidelines, and not because dozens of bishops spoke out against ND's actions.

While some bishops will not refuse Communion, they are generally agreed that pro-abortion politicians of their own accord should refrain from presenting themselves for Communion until they repent of their position.

GOD IS NOT ABOUT PERCEPTIONS AND OPINIONS

Abortion is killing unborn humans. No logical person - let alone Catholics - can think Christ is “ok” with the destruction of unborn babies for the sake of persomal convenience.

If things unborn have no right to exist then why is it illegal to even touch an eagle or tortoise egg? What connection do these eggs have to the “born” animal?

If a woman’s baby is killed in her womb by an attacker it is murder - If it is done by an abortionist it is a “choice” or “women’s health” issue. Have we reduced the meaning of humanity to the “wanting” of it? If so, then pray for the sick, aged and lame among us.

If 99% of Catholics left the Church would that change the Absolute Truth and Teachings of God? God is not about subjectivity and opinion polls. He is the eternal source of truth, objectivity, morality and justice. And, most importantly, He can be known. We only need not turn away from His logic, truth and light.

These erstwhile Catholics need to leave the Church and search for a church which reflects their perception of God. No mater if their departure leaves only a vestige of the Church intact. The Church has survived the folly anad subversion of men - from within and without - for 2000 years and its Truth remains intact. Christ promises, "Not even the gates of hell shall not prevail against it."

No true Catholic could have voted for obama.

No true Catholic could have voted for obama.

It's not even possible.

Abortion is murder and Obama supports abortion.

No true Christian of any kind could or should have voted for Obama.

Master of the Obvious

The Vatican is probably concerned about expanding Catholicism's role in Africa or at least consolidating it's position.

Do Most Catholic Bishops Support Obama?

Dan,

To get back to your original question, I think you would have to say only the silent bishops themselves could tell us why they aren't saying anything. An editorial in one of the liberal Catholic magazines-I forget which one-thought that the bishops' silence actually indicates tacit approval of the minority's views. So you're right, there is not hard evidence.

I think the whole dispute points out our basic leadership problems. The Church has lost a third of its members, there is a dire shortage of priests, financial contributions have declined, most Catholics distrust the institution because of scandal and its teachings on contraception, the Church itself is polarized, and our leaders spend their energies fighting over whether or not the President (who says he wants to reduce the number of abortions in the country) should be speaking at Notre Dame. Unbelievable.
