I, even as a liberal Democrat, agree
more with Mitt Romney. Obama should have told the Islamic World the good America has done for Muslims: we helped out after the tsunami and saved Muslims in Eastern Europe from genocide. he should have told the Muslims why America is so respected in the west, and while we make mistakes, we are looked at as the beacon of freedom for a reason. He also lied about how many Muslims we have, he also said the Jews experienced "a" holocaust instead of "The Holocaust." He also should have mentioned that Israel is the ancient Jewish homeland as well, and not denounced them outright to their enemies. Obama DID apologize too much. We are a superpower, and he is allowing that be challenged. You know why Russia maintains power? They don't apologize, and they should, because they were the wrong side of history. But we've generally been right. Obama is basically letting the jihadists say "We're right: America IS evil, even their own President admits it!"

As long as we have grown adults acting as school children ("I'm not apologizing, he hit me too!"), the world will always be at war. You don't understand reason anymore than you understand Churchill and history.
Look where conservatism has taken us! Two wars and threats encroaching all the time. Look where the free market has taken us, greed in excess! Let's cast the merchants from the temple. Let's preach reason over violence.

Foreign Policy
Apologizing is the new foreign policy Obama is trying out? I'm sure the terrorists throughout the Middle East accept and are no longer going to attack us. Of course not! They see this as weakness. This gives their cause more credibility because they've been saying all along that America is evil and a bunch of dictators, and now the president of the U.S.A. backs this up saying we dictate to other countries. Al Queda wants payback for all that the West has done in the past to the Arab world, what is an apology going to do for these people who have built up a hatred for the West, willing to give their life to kill numerous innocent people?

Hey Muser it's called freedom of speech. Mitt can say whatever he wants and you obviously to want him to be your spokes person because you read the dam article and responded to it. I'm glad at least one person is critical of the president. It seems like everybody else is letting him slide with everything. He is sure savings thousands of jobs with his stimulus bill which will costs us on average a trillion dollars over the next decade. The car companies were too big to fail? NO! they were too big to bailout!! Way to waste billions of dollars great president of ours. He pledge to lower the deficit, all he is doing is adding to it!!!!!!!!!!! DOES NOBODY ELSE SEE THIS!?

Obama is embarrassing, as usual. I don't disagree that dialogue is important and necessary. I do disagree that America should be apologizing for protecting/promoting its interests. The Taliban, Al Qaeda, Saddam Hussein and a host of other extremists deserved exactly what we gave/are giving them. Too bad if there are some Muslims who take offense. If the Muslims would control their own extremists, the US wouldn't have to. They owe us an apology.
I find it perpetually curious that liberals preach for acceptance and "live-and-let-live," but only if you agree with them. Further, if such liberal relativism is the meta-narrative, maybe Obama ought to just let all these tyrants alone? What good are liberty, human rights, voting, and democratic republics anyway? (please note the intended sarcasm.
Boon of Florida: Whether you disagree with Romney on political issues or not, I find it curious that you have the keen insight to declare that he doesn't live his faith. Did not the Lord indicate that such absolute judgement should remain in His hands? Also, I am curious what close work the Mormon Church has done with the Muslim world? Other than provide humanitarian aid I am unaware of any.
You are naive
The person above has no clue of the sacrifice of American lives for freedom because he never served a day in uniform. I believe that Obama is correct in mandatory service but misunderstands that we are over 200,000 troops short of the strength we need to secure freedom in this world. Less than 1% serve today and less than 4% of our GDP is on defense. What a spoiled and selfish people we have become with silver spoons in the mouths since birth. The day is coming when poverty will be rampant in America due to business taxes so high that all the companies will go offshore. Maybe after starving and having to defend freedom you will understand what the third world thinks of us really. I know because I served in it and gained their resepct. It is people like me if I was still younger that would close and destroy the very heart of the Jihad Bin Laden himself. It takes someone with skill and dedication to defeat him and too often skill is missing and dedication is the only constant. Too many good people have left the service after our weak kneed leaders let us down. They lack the experience and they lack the vision to understand peace is through strength not flowery words in a speach. Ronald Reagan had it right and I sure wish he were alive today to unsrew the mess we are in right now.
Selfishness is the Danger
Romney being a Mormon knows that the Mormon church work closely with Muslim world by setting common grounds. His disagreement with Obama shows his selfishness and self centeredness. I am a Mormon and I think Romney is wrong. He does not even practice his beliefs. Business experience does not equal to political experience. If Romney run this country, US would suffer more than ever before.
Romney on Obama
I think Romney meant that Americans sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the Europeans, but not for the Africans or Asians or Latin Americans. If he thinks that the invasion of Iraq by Bush Administration was for the freedom of the Iraqis, he is wrong. I do not buy that and many in the world do not buy that either. Our American past was not all that bright as our meddling in countries like Argentine, Chile, Congo, Indonsesia, Iran, Palestine, Panama, Vietnam, and many other nations would prove otherwise. So, our apology for our past is past due. If we sincerely want to have a "new beginning" with other nations, apology should been seen as a strength and not as a weakenss. Our aplogy will pave the way for such a new beginning as it demonstarates our genuinely serious desire for improving our relations wih other nations, which many had suffered some way or another from our meddling in their internal affairs. In many cases we acted against the aspirations of their people for the same values values of freedom and democracy, which our leaders relentlessly talk about as lofty values, but were denied to other peoples of the world. The time has come for our cowboy mentality to give way to tolerable discourse and dealings with the rest of the world.

It's Obama and the Obama cheerleaders who need to go back and study history. Mitt Romney is 100% right. Appeasement has never worked throughout the ages. We would have been so much better off with Romney's real world experience in the White House. Here's to competent conservatism in the White House in 2012. Romney 2012.
