Sarah Palin Picks Christian Journalist to Collaborate on Memoir

Dan Gilgoff, God & Country

Sarah Palin has picked a Christian author and magazine journalist to collaborate with her on her forthcoming memoir for HarperCollins. The journalist, Lynn Vincent, has been at World—the nation's best-read Christian newsmagazine—for the last 10 years as a writer and editor.

This isn't a surprising choice for Palin, but it's certainly one worth noting. It's more evidence that she's honing a distinctly Christian public image since coming off the campaign trail last year. This seems to be a change from the days when she was a state-level figure, almost entirely unknown outside of Alaska.

Vincent has written or collaborated on a handful of books, including the New York Times bestseller Same Kind of Different as Me, which a World press release yesterday described as "the dual Southern memoir of a wealthy, white art dealer and an illiterate, black former sharecropper whose meeting at a Fort Worth homeless shelter changed both their lives."

Interesting to see that Vincent is no stranger to collaborating with public figures whose faith-based actions have generated controversy. According to the press release from World:

Vincent has also worked with public figures trying to set the media record straight. In 2008, Hachette Book Group released Never Surrender: A Soldier ' s Journey to the Crossroads of Faith and Freedom, which Vincent wrote with retired Lieutenant General William "Jerry" Boykin, a founding officer of Delta Force, the Army's elite counterterrorist unit. Boykin later served as commander of U.S. Army Special Forces, then as Deputy Undersecretary of Defense for Intelligence.

That book sought to debunk the media attack Boykin weathered in 2003 after speaking to Christian audiences about what he saw as the clash of religious worldviews underlying the terror war.

Like Boykin, Palin and her fans seem to see her to be an embattled Christian figure.

Barrett you contracdict yourself...

You list the order of loyalties and then refer to the teachings of your church, not God and scripture when condemning the Generals.

If you're a student of history then you'll know that Truman and Carter answered to Moscow and not the American people. MacArthur knew this and tried to fight to win, not further Communism knowing what Roosevelt and Truman did regarding China's fall to the Soviets.

It's inspiring to have Sarah Palin back in the spotlight, she's a powerful evangelical Christian cut from the same mold as Ronald Reagan. It will be my honor to support her endeavors whatever they may be. Lynn Vincent also has my support! Her book, Donkey Cons is a must read!

Socialism in ANY form is immoral and EVIL.

Is Palin So Dumb As To Sign With Boykin's Ghostwriter? LOL

There are some issues I agree strongly with Sarah Palin on, abortion, the need for a strong defense, and drilling our own oil, etc.

On the other hand, I seriously question the political judgment of any leading candidate, which she is by virtue of her role in last years election, who signs as her "co-author" Lynn Vincent, who performed a similar role for the very controversial retired General "Jerry" Boykin.

General Boykin reminds me of Generals Douglas MacArthur and John Singlaub. Both of them (deservedly) lost their careers in Korea after questioning their Commander in Chiefs, Harry Truman and Jimmy Carter, respectively. Now, a partisan Republican might instinctively say, "Well, they had better military sense than their presidents, etc."

Had they? Since when is it proper for any lower officer, no matter how popular with the press or his/her troops to openly challenge the chain of command at the top, be it within any of the branches or in the case of MacArthur and Singlaub, the President himself? MacArthur wasn't the first egotistical General Mac to pull this. Let's not forget what General George McClellan did to Lincoln during the Civil War.

I've already written about Boykin in my blog, The Absurdistan Post, http://theabsurdistanpost.blogspot.com/2009/05/obamas-correct-to-keep-lid-on-torture.html

My loyalties follow in this order, God, Catholic Church, Country, my wife and family.

My Church teaches to respect the authorities, in other words, to salute the office, notwithstanding what I feel towards that office holder or his/her policies. We do not live in a country so separated from the rule of law. (If Palin was elected, I'd have to recognize her authority, but I'd fight like hell to get her out of office just as I want Obama out now for opposite reasons on many issues. They both concern me greatly.)

We live in a nation that does the best job of protecting freedom of religion than simply because it has a strong secular government. Our Fathers created a secularist constitution to prevent the new nation from repeating the same internecine warfare between the myriad of [Protestant] denominations which were splitting off from one another, each claiming to be God's truest expression of the Church. A threat of a Catholic takeover was simply laughable. But the prospect of any civil wars between the truest bluest Protestant rivals was taken as seriously a threat as any form of religious extremism today.

To wit, the most dangerous threat coming from religious extremism during the Republic's earliest years came from fire-eating fanatics like John Brown.

I want to keep religion in the public marketplace of ideas. But a sure way to increase the rigor and enthusiasm of its biggest enemies is to allow the Boykins and his kind get a foothold in any government.

Apparently, Palin doesn't mind having Lynn Vincent and Jerry Boykin as her fellow travellers. Well I do, and I hope to God many other freedom-loving Americans will too

Vote for Sarah Palin 2012 because of her superior conservative rightwing philosophy

Dear Fellow American

Governor Sarah Palin must beat Barack Obama in 2012 because of her superior conservative right wing philosophy in that she is pro God and Christianity, pro life, pro marriage; pro guns-second amendment, pro low taxes, pro low government spending; pro small government, pro unintrusive government, pro traditional and Judeo Christian values; pro Bible reading and prayer in our public schools, pro Christians schools and private education , pro private and free enterprise; pro military spending, anti arms agreements with Russia, pro creation; pro nuclear, pro conservative supreme court judges, pro American sovereignty; pro capitalism, anti communist, anti socialist; anti immigration, and pro constitution. Barack Obama are of the inferior liberal and left wing ideology in that he is against every thing that Governor Sarah Palin is for and he is for every thing that Governor Sarah Palin is against. Above all from January 20, 2013 to January 20, 2021 Sarah Palin will be the greatest President that the United States of America will have ever had.

Lets go Sarah Palin for President 2012

Thank You,

John Warren
