Christians United for Israel Hosts First National Church Event This Sunday

This Sunday's a big one for Christians United for Israel, the nation's major Christian Zionist organization. You'll remember that its leader, the Texas-based evangelist John Hagee, received a lot of attention last year when his endorsement of John McCain for president triggered allegations that he'd made anti-Catholic statements in the past. Although Hagee has been the face of Christian Zionism in the United States for years, McCain rejected his endorsement after video surfaced of the pastor making controversial statements about the Holocaust (prominent Jews like Connecticut Sen. Joseph Lieberman came to Hagee's defense).
This Sunday, Hagee's group will sponsor its 100th "Night to Honor Israel"—a pro-Israel rally for evangelicals—in Colorado Springs, Colo. These rallies feature short Hebrew lessons and Jewish songs in Hebrew. To get a sense for how this works, check out the video above from a 2006 rally in Dallas.
Also this weekend, Hagee's group will sponsor its first Christians United for Israel Sunday. Churches around the world have been invited to dedicate their services to supporting the Jewish state. Eight hundred American congregations have signed up to take part.
Participating pastors are asked to dedicate their Sunday sermons to Israel and to get congregants to sign Christians United's "Israel pledge":
We believe that the Jewish people have a right to live in their ancient land of Israel, and that the modern State of Israel is the fulfillment of this historic right.
We maintain that there is no excuse for acts of terrorism against Israel and that Israel has the same right as every other nation to defend her citizens from such violent attacks.
We pledge to stand with our brothers and sisters in Israel and to speak out on their behalf whenever and wherever necessary until the attacks stop and they are finally living in peace and security with their neighbors.

As I listened to just one more person discuss the "rights of the mother" to abort their unwanted "blob" (of course it can't be called a baby, because then that would be murder), and at the same time defend Palestine, is just pathetic. It is now a crime to defend your country against terrorism. Oh, and the innocent are being murdered by whom? When you allow your country to lop bombs to the tune of 6,000 in five years, vote into office the terrorist group over the group who sort of wants to work for peace, are warned of retaliation to the areas that the bombs come from, and you choose or are forced to stay there, that makes the Israelis the bad guys? I don't buy it for a minute. The deaths of innocents is inexcusable. And I hold the Palestinian leaders responsible for putting those babies, and innocent civilians in harms way. If the Palestinians who are in control of the West Bank stay in political office, beat down the Israelis, side with those who wish to do harm to westerners because we are of different thinking (you know the type: independent, free to actually have an opinion), let's just see that blog. Oh, wait. That would be actually impossible. How many women from these countries are walking around free. Thanks, but no thanks. But, I guess in a world of this kind of mentality, suicide bombers would be allowed to attack anything in which they didn't believe and that would be called "justice", just like the Nazi's called the death camps "The Last Solution". Wouldn't want to use any politically incorrect words. They might offend the offenders. By the way, I am neither Jewish or "Christian", or Israeli for that matter, nor am I right wing of any group. Just truly grateful that I live in a free country where we have the right to free speech. Too bad so many unborn, and women who live in oppressed societies where they are still stoned to death will never have the opportunities that their oppressors have. And you call yourselves Christians. You should look up one of their websites. See if you can figure it out. I somehow think if you are so easily persuaded by the subliminal offerings of poor reporting, it probably won't even make a dent in your thinking.
