Israel

Luke 21:24 (New International Version) - 24 They Israel) will fall by the sword and will be taken as prisoners to all the nations. Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.

We Gentiles are still here, so Israel will continue to be trampled. I have been taught that a final world war will occur, Armageddon. At that time, Israel will be almost destroyed and be forced to make a last stand on Masada. Only the return of Messiah will save them.

I am a fundamentalist. I'm not sure when any of these things will happen. There are two basic ideas that affect my thoughts about Israel & the Palestinians.

1. Christians are called to reflect God's love, mercy, justice and holiness in this world (and its very hard.)

2. All through the scriptures, God has a special relationship with Israel and says it will never end. He will redeem them.

Because of these two factors, I believe we must try to be fair to the Palestians and I would tend to error on the side of Israel if unsure of what to do.

Of course, I have little power but the power of prayer.

The evangelical george bush

The reference to George Bush as an evangelical Christian is incorrect. He is a member of the United Methodist Chuch - a group whose political leanings are very diversified. (Growing up he had been been associated with the Presbyterian and Episcopalian Churches.)

To Sherrie: "God Watches Over Israel"

Sherrie, I appreciate your comments. To clarify my earlier statements, perhaps God will protect Israel from future, total annihilation. But I see nothing in history or in Scripture to guarantee that God will protect Israel from every aggressor in every conflict.

Not only in 70 A.D., but often in Hebrew Scriptures, going back to 722 B.C., we see God allowing foreign agents ro over-run Israel, as chastening for their misconduct.

God might have changed this policy since 1948, but, to my knowledge, we have no way to verify this.

God bless. Rob.

To Sherrie: "God watches over Israel"

Sherrie, I appreciate your comment. To clarify my earlier point, it might well be that God will protect Israel from total, future annihilation. But the Hebrew Scriptures describe a history (going back to 722 B.C.), of God letting foreign aggressors over-run Israel, as chastening for their misconduct.

Perhaps God has had a reason to allow Israel to survive since 1948, but this, I believe, does not reflect a blanket policy of God's protection, that He will never deviate from. I see nothing either in history or in Scripture to suggest this.

God bless.

Rob.

God watches over Israel

God does watch over Israel. They haven't lost any battles since becoming a state again in 1948.

Is Israel's military invincible?

Christian Zionists might think Israel's military has a God-given right to perpetual victory. But this is incorrect. The Roman conquest of Jerusalem in A.D. 70 should have settled this question.

The U.S. might choose to support Israel for geo-political reasons, but Christian Zionists in America, though well-meaning, should know that there is now no blanket guarantee from God to protect Israel in warfare.

The idea that the U.S. now has a Biblical obligation to support secular Israel is also erroneous, and based on a mis-reading of Genesis 12:3, which refers to the Christian church (Galatians 3:8).

obama

will disarm israel, their holy wars over their supposed god given land makes al queda attack america, and their jewish operatives in the bush administration pushed and lied us into invading iraq and killed 5,000 american boys and made 4900 amputees.....all because jewish interests in our government and media work on behalf of israel first. we are the only country not to have deported them YET for their treasonous deceitful nature

Israel is an ally of the US?

I don't know what the US get's out of this relationship, besides spying and blackmail from Israeli lobbyists. Israel is NOT America's ally, or did you forget Israel's BRUTAL THREE HOUR ATTACK on the USS Liberty.

Why oh Why?

Ahh, one of the great unsolved mysteries of the world...

Why American Jews keep voting for (D)emocrats
