Appeaser

This little light of mine - I'm gonna make it shine...

But not in the White House.

National Day of Prayer

Yes, the Bible says to go into our closets to pray. However, does not Jesus also say that whoever denies Him before men, He will also deny him before His Father in heaven. (Matt. 10:33, also I John 2:23) The photo ops of our esteemed President that I have seen lately seem to have little to do with confessing Jesus before men, and more of bowing to all other beliefs. All roads do NOT lead to heaven. As Jesus himself said, He is the Way, and no man comes to the Father but thru Him.

People Pleasing?

President Obama is all about "American" equality. He chose not to or was "advised" not to make a big deal over the National Day of Prayer (NDP) because it would send the message that he is exalting God, Christianity, and Prayer to God. Even though the NDP is supposed to be inclusive of all faiths, it is headed by a Christian organization

To the Christian, like me, of course I WANT TO exalt God, Christianity, and the importance of prayer and I WILL.

The question is what is more important to Obama? Are Obama's political policies in harmony with his faith?

There comes a place where one must decide if he/she is going to please God or man.

"Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ." Galatians 1:10

This of his recent press conference in the middle east where he stated that the U.S. is not a Christian state. Ok, we understand , but what the reason behind him saying this? Middle Easterners hate the U.S. because of our large Christian population and because we back up the Jews. So, Obama is trying to pacify them by saying that we are not considering a Christian nation, but are made up of all faiths. I personally don't think they care at this point. They want us all dead because we are all infidels/unbelievers and our freedom is our biggest sin. So, I don't know if Mr. Obama's strategy is going to work with haters. You can't trust terrorists.

So bringing it full circle, his not participating in a NDP event is in step with his plan/policy to try to "talk" with the terrorist nations (Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran, etc.). I think it's a waste of time and it's just giving them more time to regroup and come after us again, while we're sleeping, while we're the weakest, while we think everything is okay.

How about a National Day of Reason?

Come on folks--let's put this superstitious nonsense behind us! Reason, not prayer: http://www.nationaldayofreason.org/

Where two or more are gathered....Matthew 18:20

You have to understand the context of that passage in the bible and I am certain Jesus does not mean to exclude everyone from praying in public rather he is simply telling us to examine our hearts. What are our motives? Is it to be seen by others or is it a genuine desire to seek God? The bible also says that where two or more are gathered he is in the midst of them. -Matthew 18:20

Mr. Obama WEll Sa!!

I just cannot believe it you know Mr. Obama said nothing about this very special day of prayer I love you and will pray for you but for this part right here ...shame on you....Stand up for what you believe in you say your are a christian then for heavens sake act like it ..president or no president!!

Sad? I am sad you seem to know something that isn't so

As soon as I learned that prayer was not going to take place in the White House, I of course became very sad.>>>

What makes you think there is no prayer at the white house?Obama simply did not invite one particular group that celebrates this day to throw their party at the white house.

Obama issued the call for prayer...said he was going to pray...like Jesus said was preferred...in private.

The National Day of Prayer is a government function not the function of the Dobson organization.

Cheer up sad person

"Whenever you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray...in secret." Jesus

I agree with Obama's decision who appears to agree, as I do, with Jesus who said, "And whenever you pray, do not be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, so that they may be seen by others. Truely I tell you, they have received their reward. But whenever you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secrect will reward you. When you are praying, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard becasue of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father know what you need before you ask him." Gospel of Matthew 6:5-8

National Day of Prayer

Please do not loose focus on the significance of the National Day of Prayer. I agree with the President we are to pray at all times, without ceasing. However, today is set aside for us to focus on Prayer. How can our God hear our prayer when we are deceptive, judgemental, and dealing with small issues, that really does not matter? If we want to see change, each of us must humble ourselves before our God, ask for forgiveness, turn from our wicked ways, and then maybe God will hear our prayer, and heal our land. Please remember to not sweat the small stuff, it is the tactic of Satan to keep us at odds with each other, thus loosing focus on what is really important. So stop fussing, judging, and prayer for all of the bad issues we are dealing with in this nation. Read Matthew 7:1-5 and pray for guidance from the Holy Spirit.

prayer

If our President chooses to pray privately, does not theBIBLE tell us to go into the closet to pray. Thank God he prays.
