wright represents the kind of individual that has the world embroiled in hate, disrespect to fellow man, and wars. These individuals are unable to think for themselves to discern what is right and wrong and instead they wait for their priest, pastor, and religion to dictate their "moral compass". This lack of self analysis and thought is what allows hateful attitudes and practices in the name of religion.

History is filled with this behavior. It is what allowed for the slaughter of native americans in the name of Christianity. It justified slavery. It accepts gender discrimination in the name of catholicism. It results in terrorist attacks in the name of Islam. It promotes discrimination towards homosexuals in the name of the bible.

These blind followers never stopped to think for themselves, is slavery wrong despite it being justified by religion? Is the practice of gender inequality acceptable because the church says so? Is killing 3000 innocent people realy what Allah would want? Is hate and discrimination towards gays justified because "the bible says so"? Why? Why is homosexuality "immoral" when it happens naturally in thousands of species on Earth? Is it only a "choice" whent it is applied to humans? If God created the world didnt he create homosexuals as well? Didnt Jesus side with the marginalized and unprotected? Would God oppose love? How does homosexuality harm anyone? Use your BRAINS, thats why God gave you one! Think, ask, reason. Dont "accept" just because the "religion" says so". Such attitude has been the cause of much suffering and wrongdoing through history.

Jesus did not write the bible. The bible is a man made book (female input absent of course) that went through years of editing and selections of scriptures that some thought was what Christianity should be. Religious fanatisism is the antithesis of self reaso and it has caused and continues to cause suffering on humankind. The other day I saw a bumper stcker that I believe summarizes this issue quite well: "God, protect me from your followers."

Er..I think that the R. Wright person may have been being sarcastic (I hope), but just in case, I wanted to say that I am a (straight) Christian who fully believes in gay marriage and I am absolutely thrilled that Gene Robinson will be involved in this inauguration. Not all Christians are like Warren.
