Lincoln Bible

Obama merely placed his hand on the Bible; Lincoln read it, knew it, and tried to follow it.

Obama

I Hope that Obama will be inspired by the words and deeds of Lincoln. If so, and he wants real change, he wioll start by throwing out the crooks that are killing this country. Namely the Fed Reserve Bank, and the IRS.

ugh

just because you didn't vote for him and he isn't george bush doesn't mean he is bad for our country. have some respect, please.

Lincoln's Bible

The use of Lincoln's bible was very fitting, Rev. Lowery's benediction however, left much to be desired.

Lincoln's Bible

Because Lincoln's Bible was chosen I found myself interested in American history again. It is interesting and fitting that this Bible was chosen.

Neither candidate was my first choice, but consider this: we may learn more about the power of prayer and politics than some of us believe is possible. When we pray for guidance for our new president and his cabinet, we pray for God's help for our troubled young country, as well as our freedom. I would not want anyone to be President of the United States alone.

How is Obama being presumptuous, dnha14?

You ask why does he get to use Lincoln's bible? Well why did those other presidents get to use George Washington's bible? Were they being presumptuous as well? Obama has been compared to former presidents based on his cabinet selections and the immensity of the problems he faces, and he is not the one who has drawn those comparisons. This talk about arrogance is a new double standard, plain and simple, and is just a continuing echo of partisan nonsense.

Lincoln didn't help Obama

What Makes Obama so special that he is able to use the same Bible Lincoln did? I mean he even bashes the Bible in one of his speaches and now he gets to use Lincoln's? And further, Lincoln did not fight for the freedom of slaves because he thought it was morally right, he did it for the sake of the union when they finally decided it would be acceptable. Lincoln had slaves! So it's quite odd to say that this will be a legacy. He's the first black president because he tells the people what they want to hear. It's all about change. That's almost all he says, "change change change". Any president is going to bring about change, so it's pointless for him to say that's his bringing change. That's obvious. That's what every president must do. He needs to cut to the chase and say how exactly he is going to bring about this change. But anyways that's way off topoc.

In short, I think Obama believes himself above everyone else and the other presidents and now he get's to use Lincoln's Bible.

Presumptuous

One magazine compares him to Lincoln. Another FDR. I can't wait until the comparison is to Jesus or G-d. My Lord! This guy has done nothing yet. Why does he get to use Lincoln's Bible? Obama is absolutely the most presumptuous person to ever ascend to the Presidency. After presumptuous come arrogance. We're going to need all the help we can get.

Lincoln's Bible

I think it so fitting he chose Lincoln's bible. Lincoln fought for the freedom of slaves and because of him, Obama is the first black to become President. That is quite a legacy.
