I don't know where to start, firstly in Baghdad at the cross swords where saddam would have parades there are hundreds of Iranian Army Helmets set in the concreat to walk on while you take your seat. They are there because it is an insult in the Arab world to show the bottom of your foot and an even bigger insult to touch the bottom of your foot to someones head.
The military briefs its people on the "foot" thing in Arab nations and I have seen many pieces of footage where an Arab takes off his shoe to beat a hated statue or to hit someone else.
The foot insult thing is real and I would be curious to it's orgin. I can tell you that Jamal Elias is totally uninformed on the topic.
