Green Gift Guide: For Kids

Caving to peer pressure (all the other green bloggers are doing it) and my love of online shopping, this week I'll feature ideas for green holiday shopping, for different recipients each day. The gifts will be green through and through, but not in a crunchy-granola-treehuggy way, and they won't break your budget. Today: Gifts for kids.

Target's eco-friendly site features outdoor swings made of recycled tires in fanciful shapes - a horse, dragon and motorcycle, among others. (target.com, $79 - $129)

What's more green than a gardening kit? Green Toys makes their flower pots and trowel out of environmentally-friendly materials, and their seeds are organic. (Green Toys via Amazon, $30)

Eco Ike's children's clothing mixes cute graphics with eco-messages like "Bee Green." They're printed on organic tees with water-based inks. (Eco Ike, $24)

Idbids are stuffed friends that come with a story. A cloud, a flower and a drop of water teach kids how to be eco-friendly, and chart their progress along the way. (Idbids, $40)

The Klutz Solar Car Kit teaches kids how to build a mini car from scratch, running forever on energy from "the big battery in the sky." (Klutz, $22)
