Republican’s Search for “Great White Hope” Shows the GOP’s Gut Punch Stupidity
By Bonnie Erbe, Thomas Jefferson Street blog
Pardon me. I'm still reeling from the gut-punch stupidity of some members of the GOP. If they can't get away from antiquated, racist and race-based statements, they have no future as a national party.
The latest explosion emanated from the largely unknown Rep. Lynn Jenkins of Kansas while at a town hall meeting in her home district last week. According to ThinkProgress, Jenkins was trying to offer encouragement to conservative activists by saying there were some "really sharp" young Republicans in the House.
Republicans are struggling right now to find the great white hope, said Jenkins. "I suggest to any of you who are concerned about that, who are Republican, there are some great young Republican minds in Washington." Jenkins proceeded to name three GOP members of Congress who are all white—Rep. Eric Cantor (R-VA), Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), and Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI).
A Jenkins spokeswoman told the Topeka Capitol-Journal that "the congresswoman wanted to apologize for her word choice and to emphasize she had no intention of expressing herself in an offensive manner." "There may be some misunderstanding there when she talked about the great white hope," said spokeswoman Mary Geiger. "What she meant by it is they have a bright future. They're bright lights within the party."
Yes, but they all "happen" to be white males. Not just a poor choice of words, an inexplicably nuclear choice of words.

Compotetion And Debates
MIT of GA
You are right, When in Competition you try to outsmart the other side in a true debate you work out a compromise or A Better deal that was possible before the two or more sides come together.
I believe its possible President Obama tried to rushed through his plan a little to fast with out a proper debate with the American people.
I believe we need education/health care Reform and maybe even medical staff reform.
Education does not benefit the unhealthy as much as the healthy. and I believe through experience A doctor needs to work with his patient who has long term or permanent health issues instead of believing they know it all and dismiss anything the patient says.
I have heard and believe through experience Doctors have become to impersonal, Of course this is also true with officials of all kinds in large cities that is why I like small cities. They are less like robots and are more real than city folk..
Of course I do see signs of life in the cities again and president obama may Have did a favor by trying to move to fast and causing people to take notice and have questions about his bill.
We need health care Like no other A Complete new American Heath care that will be an examole to other nations
