Flood US heathcare system with supply...

In many developed countries outside the US the supply of healthcare professionals is much greater. Here, we are expecting years of future high unemployment and will always be concerned with jobs being outsourced offshore. Healthcare is comprised of many professionals and mostly, cannot be outsourced. An enterprising private educational system should flood the US with trained, skilled, doctors, nurses, technicians -- it's too difficult to get into a healthcare training program today, and tens of thousands who can qualify are turned away -- all so doctors are assured wealth. Most of the people who are accepted get there because of their connections -- not their compassion. Don't tell me this can't be changed.

Health care cut for Seniors

What the heck does Obama think he is doing. He wants everyone over 60 to just turn up their heel and die, just so Medicare can save money. I understand that he is exempt from this health care reform. That is not fair to the human race. Does he think just because he is President that he is special. He too will be 60 years old, buit he made it so he doesn't have to worry about learning how to commit suiside. I know a lady today that will be 102 years old in November. I guess he thinks she should find a way to die before she has to cost Medicare some money.

I am already 77 years old and lead a very active life. Why should I learn to commit suiside, just because I am over 60 years old. I am looking to living and enjoying life for a very long time.

This idea of his is rediculous!!!!!!!

are you crazy you just lost my democratic vote. I am a sr and have a 19 year old daughter who is on ss she is mentally retarded what are they going to do take her out and shoot her? So every 5 years for the rest of her life 9if you allow her to live) she has to sit in this thing and perhaps be made fto feel worthless... Someone is going to make a decision for her at some time when she is of value and when she is not so every disabled person who is what 60 will be lead to Obamas gas chamber? I WANT HEALTH CARE REFORM I NEED IT BUT NOT LIKE THIS. So who ever is out their put this non political 60 year old on you list of very unhappy people. And no I won't become Republican just not a registered Democrat any more if this mess flys.

Your latter two arguments are flawed

Although I agree that 1 trillion dollars spent on health insurance is indeed a lot of money, you have no right to assume the conditions of 50 million uninsured people. You personally know three people who cannot afford health insurance because they spend all their money on luxury material goods; however those three people does NOT exemplify the rest of the citizens of the United States. How can uninsured people afford these expensive insurance plans when they have no income? These people can't live when 75% of their money is used to pay for health insurance. They obviously need to eat and live like any other person. I have 2 daughters and a son and I'm sure there is no way we could afford such insurance on our own if I were unemployed.

And "The real tragedy of the current health care system is meted out on hard-working people who pay for insurance (or who work for employers who do) whose coverage is then excluded for a so-called pre-existing condition."

Right. The fact the people have cancer, heart disease, and other diseases is completely their own fault. Maybe the reason why they can't afford it is because they've already gone broke paying for the medical bills.

Unemployment is increasing because a CERTAIN Political party got voted into power in 2001 and that CERTAIN party caused most of this "federal debt" due to their expenses on war. So they shouldn't even be complaining about Obama creating more debt because they created it first. Obama's initial intention was to find new ways to lighten the national debt.

I'm not saying his proposal is the right way to go, but your argument at the end of your article has major flaws.

CHECK THIS OUT!!

(If this doesn't make your blood boil........... Nothing will!!)

Page 425 of Health Care Bill - Listen to this interview Fred Thompson's Radio Show interviewing Betsy McCaughey (pronounced Mc Coy). Or look it up on www.fredthompsonshow.com, under interviews.

On page 425 it says in black and white that EVERYONE on Social Security, (will include all Senior Citizens and SSI people) will go to MANDATORY counseling every 5 years to learn and to choose from ways to end your suffering (and your life). Health care will be denied based on age. 500 Billion will be cut from Seniors healthcare. The only way for that to happen is to drastically cut health care, the oldest and the sickest will be cut first. Paying for your own care will not be an option.

Now, CALL YOUR PEOPLE IN WASHINGTON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tell them to read page 425 if they don't read anything else. Surely some of them have parents.

CF

"ON PAGE 425 OF OBAMA’S HEALTH CARE BILL, the Federal Government will require EVERYONE who is on Social Security to undergo a counseling session every 5 years with the objective being that they will explain to them just how to end their own life earlier. Yes...They are going to push SUICIDE to cut medicare spending!"

Health Care reform,

Bonnie read the news!

I have 2 degrees in economics and have listened to all sides of the health care reform argument but I have yet to find ONE democrat who is for it.

That is besides the point. The point is that Obama is going to force employers to seek " lower " cost health care means it will shift the cost of premiums or co-payments to the individual, this should not be up to the government. Besides, the government is going to need to set laws mandating what are acceptable levels of coverage but just because some one may have some level of insurance does not mean an individual will be able to afford to go to the doctor and be treated.

The problem with allowing the government to mandate companies to seek low cost insurance is this, the government is not run like a business. The federal government argues they will create competition but passing laws to limit the choices of doctors, business and the patients is not the right answer. The fact that no president since Truman has been successful at reforimg health care is just one of many clues as to why this is such a bad idea

The only nations to have a " nationalized " healthcare system are found in Erupoe and Canada but they pay muth higher taxes at all income levels; something that will not fly in this country.Euporean nations pay over 50% of their income to taxes so they can have national health care.

Obama does not understand economics which means he has to rely on his advisors which are biased to Obama's ideology; they want to keep their jobs.

I am not insured

Hello Everyone,

I am not insured because I have a pre-existing condition. I don't have money for health insurance, since I am below the poverty line. I came here to the US 20 years ago, I am a citizen. I worked hard all my life, but due to my pre-existing condition which is epilepsy I am not elegilbe for insurance.

Currently my doctor at UCSF doesnt charge me anything to see him and gives me samples of Keppra (medication for siezures. He is a very nice person. I take 4200 mg of Keppra per day so that I don't have a siezure. I once went to a drugstore and a 30 day supply costs $3000+. So I asked my doctor if he can get samples from the pharmacuteical rep, he was nice enough to supply them to me and to this day he supplies it to me.

I am 45 right now. Obama's health care plan will help me out. In my scenario does anyone have a better idea then Obama.

If so please write it and I can send him a letter.

Do you think Obama's health care plan will help people like me.

Thank You,

Sean Namakuta

Obama healthcare plan will be an improvement

During the 1992 Presidential debates, Ross Perot said the following concerning healthcare: “We got the most expensive health care system in the world; it ranks behind 15 other nations when we come to life expectancy, and 22 other nations when we come to infant mortality. So we don't have the best. Pretty simple, folks -- if you're paying more and you don't have the best, if all else fails go copy the people who have the best who spend less, right?”

Two things have changed since 1992: Our healthcare is more expensive, and the quality is even worse. In 2006 (the latest available statistics) the U.S. was is 27th (of 192 countries) in life expectancy, and 39th in infant mortality (a newborn baby is 3 times more likely to die in the United States than those born in countries with the lowest infant mortality) and 41st in terms of overall health. Countries with rankings similar to the United States include Lybia, Syria, Thailand, Brunei, Solvenia and Cyprus. The United States is significantly behind the healthiest countries, which include Canada, Australia, Germany, Israel, Japan, France and Iceland.

Recent U.S. studies of our healthcare system reveal shocking results: In 1999 the Institute of Medicine found that every year 98,000 Americans die in hospitals due to preventable errors. Last year a RAND Corporation study showed that American children only receive the correct treatment 47% of the time. According to a 2004 study American adults receive the correct treatment 55% of the time.

49 million Americans have no health insurance coverage. Millions more are drastically under-insured. In recent years, medical bills are the number one reason Americans declare personal bankruptcy.

All of which should make Americans very angry. We have given our healthcare system the best tools, the best people, and in essence a blank check. And, what do we get? Mediocre (at best) results. If the purpose of a healthcare system is to produce health, we clearly do not have the best. As Ross Perot suggested, we can do better. The President’s healthcare reform initiative is designed to do just that.

Obama is LYING Yet Again

Barack Obama will never say to your face what he actually plans to do -or achieve- with these huge new government programs.

Rather, you get some specious auditory performance with styrofoam props to wow the plebes, like the tacky greek columns in Denver. To him, the revolutionary ends justify the Alinskyite means- so the Dear Leader just tells you whatever he needs to.

And the truth is that Obama is out to nationalize health care.. they'll be no private insurance industry left after five years of Obamacare... but of course he's lying about it.

As for the American public, the reality that Obama is not up to the job seems to finally be setting-in; the poll numbers are now headed steadily south- is he already facing his Waterloo on this legislation?

obama is leading our elderly to the ovens by stealing $600 billion from medicare

Obama is leading our elderly to the ovens just as hitler did by stealing $600 Billion of their money...they worked for it and it was to be protected in a special fund not used in the general fund anyway Obama wants. Each day with obama has president the United States looks less and less like the country we all grew up in and loved!
