Republican Attacks on Sotomayor Will Alienate Hispanic Voters

By Bonnie Erbe, Thomas Jefferson Street blog

Blog posts such as this one from a Cato Institute fellow are so unfair, but simultaneously so helpful to the Democratic Party. It's confounding why the people making them would be so short-sighted:

In picking Sonia Sotomayor, President Obama has confirmed that identity politics matter to him more than merit.

Judge Sotomayor is not one of the leading lights of the federal judiciary and would not even have been on the shortlist if she were not Hispanic.

The first thing conservative or, this is from the Cato Institute's website, libertarian bloggers do when they question Judge Sonia Sotomayor's qualifications, is send every swing Hispanic voter solidly into the Democratic camp. It's even worse when they question her intelligence (which this blogger does by excluding Judge Sotomayor from the category of judicial leading lights.)

One of the few good things George W. Bush did for his party was to woo Hispanic voters. He simultaneously alienated moderates, fiscal conservatives and a host of other key constituencies. Now his surrogates are casting aside what little Hispanic support remains for the GOP. So be it. It's the Republicans' to ruin and they're doing a great job of that.

No to Christian who wants even more overpopulation

I assume Christian doesn't pay much income tax, which is higher when abandoned unwanted children go on welfare with or without unwed moms. Taxes are higher when some believers put so low a value on their God that they refuse to pay 10% of their income to support preachers. They get religious tax exemption. So individuals and business owners are taxed to provide steaks, chops, roasts and wine to "professional servants of God." Churches interfered with science for so long that Ireland's potato crop was from one variety, and that kind rotted out. So America was flooded with paupers who brought with them that same kind of religion-induced ignorance. That "everybody come" ode should be removed from the Statue. It asks this hemisphere to invite more CONSUMERS, more polluters, more over-breeders whose big families pay tithes even if part of it is from a welfare check. Pro-Life thinks all conceptions might become tithers, unless aborted. The 10% tithe on $40,000 for forty years is $116,000. If the tither pays extra fees for weddings, baptisms, confirmations, funerals and church schools, that's a lot of money. i say Ban-Abortion preachers want that money.

Thanks Dan from NY and Alan of XX

R.L. you certainly are a piece of work.

Read some of the Judge's rulings. The "fem nazi" wrote several opinions supporting the position of the pro-lifers. but i'm sure you already knew that.

and thank you Dan and Alex. Apparently this prince among men is always on.

When you are done itemizing your drivel, go to Vegas or the racetrack. may you have a better "chance" winning based on your intellectual prowess there.

At last we see the true White Men in america, they can dish it but cant take it....Well they are just fearful and cowards, fighting to make sure that no one avenge them...but they are doing more damage to themselves than they realize and thats because God has confuse them beyond sense. God has abandon them and they fear that they have no position in america. Well it si paid back time and Hispanic is the highest growing group in America. The white race will be extinct soon.
