Cars kill people

Several years ago in Green Bay we had a young driver purposely drive into a police car killing both officers. CARS DO KILL PEOPLE. We also had a deputy sheriff murder 6 young people in Crandon, Wi. I think it is time we disarm the police. Do you agree?

Guns killing people

I am not going sit here and call you stupid or any other harsh names, I just want to say you are missed informed. I am ex-military I have never seen a gun jump up on it on accord an kill someone, to this day I still go to the shooting range and expend many rounds from my so call assault rifles and hand guns, The gun is just a tool to be used for defense, to hunt, recreation or murder. like a hammer it can not be use unless it is in someone's hand (a hammer can be use to kill someone, will they ban hammers?)it is true when it is said "Guns don't kill people, it is the person behind the gun pulling the trigger". If you are behind the wheel of a car or trunk and you have the urge to kill some one you will use that vehicle as a weapon. there is no gun that will think I am going to kill something today

Bonnie are you stupid?

How whacky is this article? All you prved is your hatred for guns. Using your pen to push your feelings? I've been around alot of guns in my life and I never saw one shoot anyone. With-out someone standing behind the sights guns don't do anything. Car are more dangerious, people break laws almost every time they get behind the wheel, speeding, DUI, seat belts, baby seats Etc... How many people were killed last year by guns? How many were killed by cars? Oh you make us all throw-up with your ignorance.

this dumb broad...

If guns kill people, do pens misspell words?

Don't Fear Guns Fear People With Small Minds - Raymond of GA

Raymond of GA;

If you comment is directed at me I suggest you read my entire last comment not just the last two lines. I think you will find that we are in agreement.

DON'T FEAR GUNS, FEAR PEOPLE WITH SMALL MINDS

You are wrong, NRA is right. Guns are just implement like knives or stone. These tools do not kill people by itself. Criminals kill people.

Weak.

How about writing about something you actually understand next time? Maybe some topic that doesn't require you to blindly stick half-related concepts together? The points you try to make in this sloppy piece are held together by the journalistic equivalent of kindergarden paste.

I'm not an NRA gun nut and I don't think fully-automatic weapons should be legal, but reading your opinion piece just makes me angry.

Bonnie - Gun Control

What drivel!

First of all; police are paid to go into harm’s way to stop criminal activities. It is very unfortunate that these officers had to suffer at the hands of a maniac. This however has nothing to do with gun control. I wasn't there and neither were you. My first instinct is that these officers needed better training in the way of finding out what they were up against before exposing themselves. This shooting is no one's fault but the maniac pulling the trigger of the gun. The gun did not fire itself....Daaaaaa.

You are entitled to your opinion and that is one of the great things about living in the United States of America. Your right to express your opinion is protected just like my right to defend myself and my family is. I certainly would not want to take away your right to express your opinion, no matter how much I disagree with it.

The right to bear arms in this country is an inalienable right. This is meant to protect us, yes even you from a military type take over like those that have been done in so many countries, so many times in the past. I personally don't want to be ruled by thugs or a military establishment gone wrong. You or anyone that starts pecking away at the US Constitution or the Bill of Rights puts more at risk than you have any right to do or apparently have the capacity to understand.

If you want to give up your rights then give up your rights but you don't speak for me. I will defend myself, my family and my country by whatever means necessary. Any thinking person would realize that in this day and age you cannot defend yourself with a slingshot, a mussel loading pistol, or rifle. I will not be manipulated by you, the media, rouge factions of the US Government or anyone else who advocates giving up my rights. You might say; in a civilized society guns should not be necessary. This may or may not be true, but we certainly can't prove or disprove this today because we do not live in a civilized society.

As far as your AK47 theory goes, there are many means to take lives if that is what someone is hell bent on doing. Means that there are no attempts to regulate, just ask the folks at the Oklahoma City Federal Building that survived. There was not a shot fired there by any 'gun'. The Twin Towers comes to mind, yep, no 'guns' there. You will not stop violence by taking guns away from law abiding citizens.

You cannot defend yourself by pretending that bad things can't happen that you may have to defend yourself against. If you put your defense in someone else's hands then you risk having those that are meant to defend you turning into your prison guards, if you cannot defend yourself against 'them'. Remember this; a gun has never killed anyone. There is always a person(s) involved. Take away the rights of people who commit wrongful acts not law abiding citizens.

DON'T FEAR GUNS, FEAR PEOPLE WITH SMALL MINDS!

I definitly believe in gun control. Use both hands when you aim!
