Rising Use of Food Stamps Shows Why Abortion, Birth Control Are Needed

By Bonnie Erbe, Thomas Jefferson Street blog.

Some sad but not unexpected government data out today show food stamp usage rising as the economy continues to lose steam:

Food stamp enrollment rose in all but four of the 50 states during January, said Agriculture Department figures. Vermont, Alaska and South Dakota had increases of more than 5 percent. Texas had the largest enrollment, 2.984 million, down 65,000, followed by California at 2.545 million, up 43,000, and New York with 2.211 million, up 37,000.

Food stamp benefits get a temporary 13 percent increase, beginning with this month, under the economic stimulus law signed by President Barack Obama. The increase equals $80 a month for a household of four.

One can assume those numbers will continue to rise until the recovery starts—most economists don't expect recovery to kick in until next year. Let's all hope they are wrong and that it starts later this year.

Meanwhile, I blogged earlier this week about the rise in birth control usage and abortion due to the recession. These figures back up my assertion that the last thing young, unemployed, or already large families should be doing is creating more mouths to feed. Food banks nationwide are reporting shortages and it's only going to get worse.

Bonnie love animals, not children.

Qoute "She is also a strong supporter of compassion for animals." from http://www.pbs.org/ttc/about_host.html. Why? If you love animals, you should love children. you can feed animals but not children? This is a hate article, inhumane. I wonder USNEWS.com can do anything with her. Or maybe USNEWS support her idea?

Hey Bonnie, let's hope no one takes you seriously. And if abortion is on the rise then maybe you should actively pursue killing babies instead of blogging. You seem to want to do the wrong thing all the time. If you were half intelligent you would somewhere in your body know that you are wrong. In fact, most people who are wrong know it. They just have no idea how to help themselves so they revert to evil. It takes more patience, a selfless sense, large amounts of energy, and above all love to sustain human life. You are so quick to make it the problem of everyone else and that it's their duty to have abortions. " You are filled with contempt for other humans", probably what your fortune will say. You need a reality check, things are going to get worse. But you Bonnie can't fix it so let's kill'em all. You must be a horrible person to be around, you have no hope...solution, kill babies. You know it's wrong but you can't help yourself so you revert to evil.
