Shake it up!

The economy's performance in the last quarter of 2008 was the worst in over 25 years?

And you're blaming whom?

I have no political affiliation and the more I listen to the Republicans bad mouth our President, the more I think this country needs reform. This is the most in your face action I’ve seen out of Washington in years. Haven’t you ever heard that something good will always come from change?

Maybe shaking things up will do us all some good. I think the bad economy has taught many of us to live within our means again and not abuse the credit system.

Yeah real TRUTY!

Obama promised the moon to get elected. The truth was he didn’t have a clue how to fix anything. The voters who were not concerned about his inexperience now have to live with their decision. If you are without a job or soon to be without an income, you are in tough reality and likely will be there for some considerable time. But these same voters didn't want to hear any bad news during the election and preferring to trade common sense for hype. Eventually in the greatest denial has to be met with reality, it will not be a dream for the multitudes but the nightmare they so vigorously refused to believe was on its way. But those who voted for virtually untested and tried politician like Obama thinking it would be in their best interest can take their comfort in the fact that Obama and his family will be set for life. That’s about the only future you can truth count on coming true.

He is just a good speaker and thats all

That's all he is!

Eli Speiser from NJ, what are you kidding? Bush et al spent 8 years blaming Clinton for everything. It is Bush's policies and 6 years of Republican stupidity like what's coming from the likes of you that brought us to this point. Who started the IRAQ war that's cost us close to a trillion dollars already? The Republicans are still not willing to be accountable for the destruction that they've brought on this country. Not only that but much of the money the "borrowed" for the war came from China. Now we have a president who actually puts the COST of the IRAQ war in the budget which is far more honesty than anything we have gotten from the likes of Bush, Rove, Cheney etc. So go back to sleep because it WAS the previous administration that did all of this to the country and don't forget the last two years still saw Bush vetoeing everything the Democrats tried to do and now that the Republicans are in the minority they're using the filibuster as a weapon of choice even though they called the dems out for doing the same. The GOP is nothing more than a bunch of hypocritical and greedy SOBs as are their constitutents who would rather see the country continue down the tubes which is the trajectory that the Republican President and his congress put us on than to work together and that's the GOP's idea of patriotism and that amounts to nothing more than a veiled form of terrorism. Far as I can tell, the GOP (American Taliban) is just a bunch of sorry losers, and working together for the good of the country is just not part of their genetic makeup. By the way, the idea of bi-partisanship for the GOP is everyone doing everything their way they never have and never will believe in team work unless of course it's working as a team to destroy our country. A truly patriotic person wouldn't be praying for our president and therefore our country to fail as you all here seem to be wanting.

Obama telling the truty

I think that Obama is telling things like they are. We have heard from our prior president that things would be ok. What is wrong with telling the people the truth...........

Obama and the recovery

The president is not about fixing the economy but about spreading money around to his crones and to get his socialist policies funded at the risk of destroying the USA.

Finger Pointing

The President has to also STOP blaming the Bush administration for all our economic woes. He seems to forget that the Democrats controlled Congress these past two years (and he was part of that, too!)

Inexperience, sure

The “government’s failure” and the “peoples failure” and the “News media failure” was too hold honesty and truth, above the greed. The government’s checks and balance have been regulated to be broken on purpose. 34 years of conservative litigation with only this possible end in sight.

Please DO NOT give in to pressure to support the bailout of Wall street gangsters! This is not what I want done with MY hard earned tax dollars. We don't have enough police, schools and infrastructure are suffering, an illegal invasion and occupation on the other side of the world sucks the life from us, and these bankers got themselves into this mess because the government has let them REGULATE themselves. NO BAILOUT! It “Will Not help” and Will defiantly damage our ability too repair the damage when the dust settles.

Yes a devaluation of goods is next followed by a depression and food shortages that’s the bed we made. Then we can actually fix the causes and the root problems.

Thanks Mikem-- oct 08

socialist my but

Un-checked capitalism did this period end of story

No entity can police themselves it’s been tested and proved over and over. Grow the hell up; capitalism has been hacked by greedy bottom line only capitalist.

Anyone who looks for them self does see the proof. When in doubt ask any collage professor not the news .

Tom in San Diego

Tom another option would have been to add a secure investment options into the 401k. A choice could have been certificates of deposit that at the time were earning 4 to 5%. No early withdrawal penalties no taxes. When conditions improve the money would still be in a tax deferred status.
