Barack Obama’s Cabinet Appointments: More Women Needed

Bonnie Erbe's column ranting about women not being picked

Bonnie Erbe counts 15 appointments, I count 31. Of those 31 10 are women. Which accounts for nearly 35%. Of the 31 only 4 are Black. Why isn't she complaining about that.

Music for Obama

Bonnie Erbe,

My music might be of interest to you and your readers.

Go to You Tube, enter BertGriffin88, and 25 of my original songs will become available. Check out the following:

1. “(Obama’s Song) Waiting So Long”

2. “(Obama’s Song II) As Brightness Warmed The World”

3. “She’s A Bright Light”

4. “Tumbled Down Town”

5. “Trust Me Baby, I Can Handle What’s Wrong”

6. “God said, Thomas”

7. “My Macaca Knocka”

8. “Always Yesterday (And Never Long Ago)”

9. “(Not Gotters) You Just Get Got”

10. “Cowboy Saint” (Bush)

I wrote “She’s A Bright Light” for my wife.

President Barack Obama obviously has three bright lights, Michele, Malia, and Sasha, and lets not forget Grandma Marian in his life. So four bright lights.

Obama also has lost two bright lights but they burn on in him: Ann and Toot.

I’ve thought about changing the pronoun ‘she’ to ‘he’ and doing the Obama version, “He’s A Bright Light” but I think we Americans have shown that we get it.

So, come on, take a listen.

the appointments

can i just have obama's appointments, thats all

Paging Dr. Freud

Ha, so when the African-American population protests discrimination, or the gay population, they should be answered in raving commentary as above. Women deserve the same consideration as any other group.

Per the other comment, Ms. Erbe never said the appointees need be white females. But, yes, there SHOULD be representative/proportionate females appointed.

Obama's lack of female appointees is abysmal. How wrong when those who have been victimized by discrimination (Obama) whine about it, benefit from it, then turn about and do the same thing to another group. Some "change."

Ms. Erbe is also correct that Obama has had a rich field of female candidates from which to choose. Perhaps those offended by female empowerment best find a shrink to overcome latent mommy issues.

This Article is Right On!

THIS ARTICLE IS RIGHT ON. Finally someone in the media is speaking out against this ridiculous fact.

It is no surprise as Obama turned his nose up at women, and refused to court them, during the election. The ironic fact is McCain dusted Obama re: gender equity - paying women more than men vs. Obama's paying women less than men, and McCain employing more women.

The ignorant comments in this section are appalling. It is also LOL when after a sexist rant commenters tack on "and I am a woman!"

Women must continue asserting equity (as virtually every other group does yet curiously without the rebound venom) and not be silenced by asinine and vapid arguments from those with agendas and/or personal issues asserting that sexism does not remain a toxic force.

And we are women!

And we are Democrats!

ok clearly whateveryone is saying is

That we dont have enough races and or trangender and or different kinds of people in the white house how about we all get along and not be hating obama we should be helping Obama out tell him what the people want and try to help him fix it instead of going and blogging about how lame it is that we dont.

More Polish and German Cabinet members

I'm half Polish and half German. Should I argue for more Polish members, more German members, or perhaps I should gripe until Polish-German Cabinet members are appointed. There is very little logic left in this country. Decisions and arguments are mostly based on emotion. What is our future?

Someday we won't have to count gender or race but it will always be something

As a woman of roughly half century age, I am glad to see women getting more opportunities than we did, or our mothers and grandmothers did. I am still yearning for the day, however, when we can stop counting (quotas) and have the best PEOPLE in all jobs. Wouldn't it be a refreshing change to hear that president-elect Obama nominated 3 economists, 2 scientists, 3 philosophers, and 7 policitical scientists. We have a natural tendency to count and classify to make sense of the world around us. I look forward to the day we count something besides gender and race.

48 percent

I am a man who loves your show and watches it religiously but why don't you have 48% men on your show?

For someone that discriminates on the basis of sex you have some nerve criticising Obama. LOL

I am half kidding but, really, Obama asked more women but they turned him down. I bet the cabinet would be close to half women if all the women he mad offers to accepted. Hilary has the most powerful position in his cabinet. I am sure he will pick females in high places whenever the best candidate is a woman or is in a tie as the best candidate. Why would you kick a man who is so pro-woman, like Obama, in the nuts? Give him some time.

You need to criticize women for not voting for women. As a black man I never understood why women don't elect women. You should also put pressure on female politicians, like Granholm, to accept cabinet positions when asked. Those men accepted cabinet offers.
