Is Jon Favreau for Real?
By Bonnie Erbe, Thomas Jefferson Street blog
Is this for real?
According to thedailybeast.com, President-elect Obama's chief speechwriter was photographed groping, quite inappropriately I might add, a stand-up photo of secretary of state nominee Sen. Hillary Clinton:
Incident 3: John Favreau Gropes Cardboard Likeness of Sen Clinton
Check out what President-elect Obama's pick for director of speechwriting at the White House does in his free time.
This is the guy who puts words in Obama's mouth, right?
If this is what the website claims it is, a picture of incoming White House speechwriter in chief Jon Favreau, I agree with writer Amy Siskind that the guy ought to be fired.

Jon Favreau and liberalism
Thanks for your comment Bernard, but surely your liberal use of the word "liberal" almost as an epithet qualifies you as closet liberal? I say that in jest!
Seriously though, I take issue with your implication that that an immigrant cannot be a "super patriotic" There are many immigrants who served and died in Iraq. I personally know of at least one immigrant GI who did not even have a "green card" when he was killed serving in Iraq. So, really not many people in the know about these things, think that immigrants cannot be patriotic. I am one of those who doesn't think it is patriotic to borrow money from China to pay for our wars, which is what we did in the last eight years. As for Mrs Pelosi's liberal bent of mind which seems to so excite you as a physician, I happen to think that after the eight years of right-wing politicking Washington DC, we are due for a dose of liberal correction. To just take one issue, George W came into office vowing tort law reform. Many physician groups supported him enthusiastically. Naivity? You bet! George W had majorities in the House as well as the Senate. But ultimately he turned out to be the typical cynical politician that everyone in DC and today the physicians areno better off than when he came into office. Once again thanks for your comments!
Jon Favreau
Neil, most likely my standard of a military hero for a super patriot was way too high. But the recent standard of a "very, very patriotic" person by liberal Nancy Pelosi was way off the mark if not shameful:
The speaker, condemning raids by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, referred to the immigrants (both legal and illegal) she was addressing as "very, very patriotic."
You are special people. You're here on a Saturday night to take responsibility for our country's future. That makes you very, very patriotic."
Anyhow, much thanks to the stirring rhetoric of Jon Favreau, Obama won the game. And winning the game is all that counts.
But, really, stirring rhetoric created in Starbucks and then insulting Obama's Secretary of State as a victory celebration is more than I can respect?
Jon Favreau
My issue is that Favreau is about all brilliant and meticulous rhetoric (the Holy Cross valedictorian gets an A in essay writing, done while sucking on his coffee at Starbucks) but without substance, heart, spirit, and honesty. "Change we can believe in." And the poor disenfranchised blacks in Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, etc. believe this and vote for a black only to get the words and thoughts of a young, privileged white? Aren't there any talented black speech writers available? Better to have Obama's pastor do the speech writing. At least he is spirited and honest and forthright and not a mocker of our current Secretary of State.
