Lesson of the 2008 Election Is That Sexism Is Still More Pervasive Than Racism

Sexism is more prevalent and accepted than Racism!
You don't have to be Einstein to see that Sexism is acceptable and prevalent and growing!
Hillary was the first victim. The mass media and the Obama campaign vilified her. From witch to anything that rhymed with it and the most sickening epithets and depictions. The Obama supporters were the worst offender. The media joined them in the HIllary-bashing with glee.
Obama went so far as to act like a teenager at a rally and he lifted his midfynger and flipped offed Hillary in front of a crowd while smirking! What a sexist oink!
Then Obama supporers showed up wearing a "Sarah Palin is a C***t" T-shirt! And they seemed quite proud.
This ignominious election has clearly shown that Sexism is worse and much alive. Racism is almost dead. No? Well try wearing a T-shirt with a monkey eating a banana that has Obama's a N***r on it! You'll see soon how acceptable this is!
Remember John Lennon's song of l970--it's still darn true:
"WOMAN IS THE NE*RO OF THE WORLD"!! Thanks to the Obamabots and the media she still is and will be. Don't expect angry Michele to do anythying about it! She couldn't give a flying stool...She allowed her 2 young girls to sit a church and listen to RACIST sermons and watch crazy Rev. Wright's obscene gyrations on the pulpit yelling "Ya, Bill loves us and he does to us what he did to Monica" ....Nice parenting....Guess sexism will be with us a lot longer than racism...
Try on the Sarah T-shirt. And then the Obama banana/shoe shine T-shirt. See which one stays on longer!
Obama's Camouflaged Misogynist was the Worst
The media misogynist frat-boys' antics pushed Obama to a premature, fraudulent "finish-line" of superdels. Obama himself employed sexist artillery to attack his female opponent. But he was smart. He knew how to camouflage his misogyny.
Remember Obama's N.C. performance the day after his pathetic ABC Debate in Pa? He went on stage and did his well-rehearsed sexist "flip-offing" JayC rapper-wannabe routine degrading his female fellow senator. He smirked, paused for effect and in a juvenile fashion....watch youtube's mega-hit: "Obama Gives Hillary the F**er!"
Remember Barack's camouflaged sexist statement:
"Periodically, Hillary feels down and starts launching attacks to boost her appeal"!
"the claws are comin' out"
"She's likeable enough"
And going on stage with Bernie Mac's sick joke "all mothers and sisters in any family are...'hos"!
Come on, now sexism sells. Obama's campaign struck gold with it. He played the Race Card smartly!....
Sexism is far more prevalent--and accepted! Don't deny it! Your'e fooling yourselves. And watch this on youtube:
"SEXISM SELLS, BUT WE'RE NOT BUYING IT" --Women's Media Center.
You'll change your mind.
Racism vs. Sexism
****The 2008 campaign has demonstrated it is more politically correct to be sexist than racist. ****
So sayeth the White woman who has never experienced racism.
Check Your Privilege At The Door
For you to declare that sexism is worse than racism is a function of your white privilege. It is easy for you to say that sexism is worse than racism because as a white person you have never lived nor are obligated to think about racism in the lived experience of a person of color in America. The oppression Olympics is never a constructive discussion to have. However, if you must insist on comparing the two, then this discussion should start with those who sexism AND racism are ingrained into their lived experience in America -- women of color. Until you can acknowledge how silencing and white-centric your conclusion is to who experience an intersection of oppressions, check your privilege at the door.
And You Know the "Ethnic" Story Because...
You have experienced it?
Did you even talk to any people of color?
I'm pretty sure if you talked to any women of color, you might hear something different. Heck I look white to most people, but I am Native and Mexican. You and I Obviously live in different worlds, but then I am aware of White Privilege.
Bonnie Erbe's white priviledge is so blinding I feel like I'm in a Russian blizzard
While stating that, "white men still feel more comfortable sharing power with men of color than they do with white women or women of color", she ignores the role that white women have played in concert with men in the overvaluation of whiteness. Simply pointing out one clearly racist statement by Stanton does not erase the racism employed by white women in their bid to elect Hillary Clinton, nor does it eliminate the degree to which white women still profit from racism. The largest benefactors of affirmative action have been white women and this is not at all accidental. WOC despite occupying two areas of social marginalization have yet to make the same strides towards having our humanity actualized and valued and yet we are still female. Daily our cry is still ain't I a woman and it has been generations since Sojourner Truth made that famous speech.
One does not validate oppression by forcefully participating and encouraging the oppression of others. To truly seek a society based on mutuality and equality all forms of othering need to be eradicated. Had Erbe wanted to make a true analysis of race and gender she would have listened to the voices of WOC because who are better prepared to speak to this issue than those whose bodies are literally an intersection of both?
Reject the Democrats Double Standard
Hillary should be the candidate running for President NOT Barak Winfrey.Shame on those who failed her.The Negative tone we have been subjected to has come from the OBAMA camp, they made vulgar disparaging remarks about her , the former President, even her daughter. And now the McCain /Palin ticket has had to endure at least as much from the Axlerod filth factory. The thirst for power demonstrated by this Chicago gang is UN -American.If any member of the human race has been oppressed since the dawn of civization- regardless of race or culture -it is women. And if you wanted to break the template for all the injustices that followed ,Hillary would have been the logical one. Democrats failed to seize that moment .Instead , they have proven to be"... same as the old boss"... Don't be fooled .
meh
Seriously? Arguing over which oppressed group has it worst?
I've been a white girl all my life. I know that I have never been under the thumb of real, soul destroying racism.
I can say that they are both terrible awful things. And that pitting one against the other just gives more power to the white male patriarchy.
So to hell with them both, and I mean that as literally as possible for someone who's a agnostic.
False dichotomy
If Barrack Obama were out on the stump pandering to misogynists, saying that Palin is too 'emotional' to have her finger on the nuclear button (with a gratuitous 'especially at certain times of the month' thrown in) THEN you might have a point about sexism being more tolerated than racism.
The problem with your position is that there hasn't been some huge sexist movement against Palin. People don't like her because of the constant race baiting she engages in. Racism has been a huge and blatant part of this election. Heck, it is basically the sum total of the Republican campaign strategy at this point. Sexism has barely reared its head in comparison... and hasn't been coming out of the Obama camp at all.
Yes, there was more evidence of sexism against Clinton, but again that wasn't coming out of the Obama camp and didn't come anywhere near the level of racist rhetoric which can be found at any Palin rally.
Also, on blacks getting the vote 50 years before women. Largely fiction. Yes, the 15th amendment came before the 19th... but then women who went out to vote were not, you know, MURDERED en masse for it. Or told that they had to pass a special test. Or mysteriously dropped from the voter rolls.
I'll grant you one thing... yes, sexism may be more 'accepted' than 'racism' in today's society. But only because it exists in a markedly less toxic form. Sexism is still with us, but it isn't anything close to the smothering evil which lingering racism embodies. The neanderthals who believe that women aren't competent to hold positions of authority, there is no such thing as 'rape', wives shouldn't be allowed to leave, et cetera are few, far between, and overwhelmingly reviled. Racists have whole towns, counties, regions of the country... and their very own VP candidate mouthpiece.
Racism and Sexism
This one isn't even close. Racism is much worse than sexism. If the average woman were treated like the average man (regardless of race) they would be shocked to see how males have to fend for themselves. In all arenas they'd learn to take their beatings "like a man." In politics there are idiots who will say sexist things about the female candidates. The racist idiots want to kill Obama. so which is worse, having derogotary things said about you or killing you?
