Sarah Palin's Intelligence (or Lack Thereof)

Ease up on Elane
Elane Lafferty is a consultant for the McCain campaign as an adviser to Palin. She gets payed good money to make Sarah Palin look good, and she has done a decent job given the enormity of the task. Resorting to personal attacks against Lafferty doesn't do anything to answer the question of whether Palin has a lick of intelligence.
PS- Cindy-- Palin is intelligent but not knowledgeable? Thats a fine trait if you're a n'er do well playing poker or a person trying to get a job in middle management. But a head of state!? I think being knowledgeable is one of the prerequisites.
Knowledge v. Intelligence
I find criticisms of Sarah Palin's intelligence absurd. While there may be legitimate criticism of her present knowledge of national and international political issues, having knowledge is not the same thing as being intelligent. Knowledge pertains to what you have previously learned, while intelligence deals with a person's capacity to learn.
Based upon her performance as Alaska's governor, I think Gov. Palin IS an intelligent person who is capable of getting things done. Anyone who steps into the office of president or vice president will have to "learn the ropes" of the job. Personally, I don't think Sen. Obama has enough experience to be considered qualified for the presidency. At the time he declared his candidacy, he had only been a US senator for two years--the same length of time that Sarah Palin has been governor of Alaska.
palin
i didn't think i could dislike someone more than i dislike hillary clinton--then sarah palin showed up. ugh. what a joke.
Sarah is Simply Stupid
Sarah Palin is the most stupid "Governator" I have ever seen.
She thinks only of the surface of things. There is no depth.
As a result, she can talk in circles and nonsense if she is asked to answer in depth. She can even contradict herself. For example, she can end up accusing Obama of a "Socialist" for sharing the wealth and sharing resources. Yet she touted herself as doing the same thing for Alaska's citizens two months ago. Thus she should accuse herself of being a socialist too - but she forgot apparently.
not ready
She is not the brightest light on the christmas tree this year .I can tell you that
Palin
History will reveal that McCain's choice for V.P. cost him the election. Alaska's 3 electoral votes will not sway an election. Choosing a female with no worldly experience and a large family repulses most conservative idealists. Winken, Blinken and Nod have a better chance of revitalizing the republican party than Gov. Palin. Sorry John, gotta vote democrat for the first time in my life.
Do we trust our country to a hockey mom?
I spent 5 years serving my country as a Woman Marine. I was willing to lay down my life to defend my country and the people living within our borders. I would be hard-pressed to find inspiration from a woman that is incapable of naming a Supreme Court decision other than Roe V. Wade. These are very scary times we live in and to think that this person could possibly be President is something that frightens me to my bones. Folksy or not, I find this woman is not ready to be VP in any way shape or form. There are so many people (women) that are insulted by John Mccain's choice. I am a college educated woman who is going to vote for a man that will lead this country with intelligence. Sarah Palin is not ready. Joe Biden is. Enough said.
Sarah
Sarah's intelligence? Like a bag of hammers.
Quilty!
What sealed the deal for me regarding Sarah Palin is when she told us she was so happy she was not found guilty of any ethics violations right after the Alaska panel found her guilty of ethics violations.
<p>
And she is still on the ticket. Why?
Legally blonde vs. Mr. Smith goes to Washington
I would suggest that Barack Obama is more comparable to Jefferson Smith from “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington” than Sarah Palin. Both (Obama and Mr. Smith) are individuals motivated by ideals who struggle with a political machine that belittles and scandalizes them. The script emphasizes personal triumph of good vs. evil and ultimately portrays democracy at its finest. A more fitting comparison for Sarah Palin would be Elle Woods from “Legally Blonde”. She is a charming young woman who is intelligent and capable, likeable because she “has it all” (beauty, brains and success). But she ultimately triumphs by arguing in a farcical trial. We should ask ourselves which script/administration we are ready for…an inspiring, thoughtful political classic offered by Obama or another lighthearted comedic farce offered by McCain/Palin.
