Feminists

My mom, a successful banker who was way ahead of her time, always insisted true equality (the goal of feminists) is to have the same choices and compensation as men. Do not rest, she said, until you can have a bold, rewarding career without fear of negative labels or undue retribution, along with desirable husband and children, all at the same time. When the question who (mom or dad) will stay home to raise the children is the norm not the exception. Strive for the day, she added, when you too can have sexual freedom to have men on demand without being labeled a whore, responsiblity for your body and the right to remain single without eyebrows being raised.

The day women, like men, can do any combination of the above without being subject to ridicule and criticism, she said, is the day we can finally say it is an equal world. She died in a car wreck in Africa in 1975 but I never forgot her vision for women.

This past year, Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin both proved the United States, more than many countries in this trying world, still has an incredible amount of work to do in this field - particularly with regard to teaching the more educated American women to accept and support other women who break ahead of the herd. Letting go of irrational jealousy will be a good start.

?

No. Your comments jut make you an anti-feminist.

Sarha Palin

Making America look stupid one interview at a time...Please!

Sarah's flip flop

I don't know what to make of her. She can't even speak coherently. I find myself trying to help her structure her sentences and then I become so embarrassed and ashamed of her that I have to mute or change the channel. Really, where did this woman get her education? whether she is a feminist or not one thing is for sure..........she is a blooming idiot.

Palin as VP

I don't particularly care if our next vice president is a feminist or not. What I do

expect is that he/she can put a noun next to a verb and come up with a complete

thought. Listening to her is pure agony. Will this sentence never end?!!! She just

strings buzz words, empty phrases, and dependent clauses together in the futile

attempt to convey something of merit. It's pathetic. I shudder to think what happens

when she takes pen in hand. What a horrible example she sets for our young people

who are already woefully lacking in communication skills. I never thought we would

become a country that would selected for our first and second in command people like George Bush and Sarah Palin who commit crimes against coherent expression on

a daily basis. They terrify me. Hey, does that make them terrorists?

Feminism

Actions speak louder than words. Governor Palin's husband (unelected, unpaid and unofficial) inserted himself in HER JOB AS GOVERNOR, influenced and/or usurped the role of governor and acted "for her" on many issues - including the most controversial one on which they are now testifying under oath.

Do feminists look to their husbands to do their official job for them? Phyllis Schafly?

Sarah is popular for just one reason

Values, values, values. If Sarah has the "correct" interpretation of biblical truth, is anti-abortion, supports gun rights without any limitations, etc., then having a capable, informed, effective, intelligent, knowedgeable leadership in the Executive Branch is not important. The fact that there appears to be such strong support for her demonstrates the continuing drift of the Republican party toward a divisive values-oriented base where true conservative principals such as fiscal responsibility and personal accountabiity become an empty shell. More than ever, we need to preserve truly valuable conservative values and turn away from theoracy, intolerance, and willful ignorance of the troublesome complexities arising from an increasingly metropolitan and global existence. Moderate Republicans understand this and are flocking to Obama. Aside from Sarah, John McCain has made too many missteps in this campaign and has sacrificed his most valuable attribute--his integrity.

Feminisim is no longer relevant

Who cares whether Sarah Palin or anyone else is a feminist?

There is no longer feminisim. The most feminist achieved was to obtain the right to act like men at their worst. Women have sold out to liberalism.

I cite as support the complete failure of women's groups to complain of the actions of the Sexist in Chief, Bill Clinton. In fact, many so called feminist defended his actions, and ignore the sexist conduct of other politicians and public figures.

There is also the lack of feminine outrage at the acceptance of Sharia law in Europe. Despite the example of the application of Sharia law in Afghanistan, there are no significant examples of "feminists" challenging Islam, radical or otherwise. Georgtown University has a center for Islamic study that is currently sponsoring discussion about the relevence of Shaira law in the United States.

If women think things were unequal in the first 200+ years of the history of the United States, just wait until we elect the "appeasers" running on the Democratic ticket, and they cave into the demands of our enemies in the name of multiculturalism!
