Barack Obama and John McCain Through the Looking Glass—Racism at Work?

October 22, 2008 03:33 PM ET | Bonnie Erbe | Permanent Link | Print

The following ditty has been floating around in the E-mail-sphere, attributed to one Roger Leisner of something called Radio Free Maine. Mr. Leisner does indeed have a Web presence, but scouring his Web postings, I could not find the following. I am not in political accord with Mr. Leisner or whoever wrote the following, but it does make some fascinating points that, a la Alice in Wonderland, make you stare into a mirror image of the world as it is and ponder the plausible opposite. I have edited out references to events I do not know to be factually accurate. Read away:

Obama/Biden vs McCain/Palin, what if things were switched around? ...think about it.

Would the country's collective point of view be different?
Could racism be the culprit?

Ponder the following:

What if the Obamas had paraded five children across the stage, including a three month old infant and an unwed, pregnant teenage daughter?

What if John McCain was a former president of the Harvard Law Review? What if Barack Obama finished fifth from the bottom of his graduating class?

What if McCain had only married once, and Obama was a divorcee?
What if Michelle Obama was the wife who...became addicted to painkillers?
What if Cindy McCain graduated from Harvard?

What if Obama had been a member of the Keating Five? (The Keating Five were five United States Senators accused of corruption in 1989, igniting a major political scandal as part of the larger Savings and Loan crisis of the late 1980s and early 1990s.)

What if McCain was a charismatic, eloquent speaker?
What if Obama couldn't read from a teleprompter?

What if Obama was the one who had military experience that included discipline problems and a record of crashing planes?
What if Obama was the one who was known to display...a serious anger management problem?
What if Michelle Obama's family had made their money from beer distribution?

You could easily add to this list.....

Educational Background:
Barack Obama: Columbia University - B.A. Political Science with a Specialization in International Relations. Harvard - Juris Doctor
(J.D.)
Magna Cum Laude

Joseph Biden: University of Delaware - B.A. in History and B.A. in Political Science. Syracuse University College of Law - Juris Doctor
(J.D.)

vs.

John McCain: United States Naval Academy - Class rank: 894 of 899

Sarah Palin: Hawaii Pacific University - 1 semester North Idaho College - 2 semesters - general study University of Idaho - 2 semesters -journalism Matanuska-Susitna College - 1 semester University of Idaho - 3 semesters - B.A. in Journalism

Education isn't everything, but this is about the two highest offices in the land as well as our standing in the world.

You make the call.

"What if" Sarah Palin and John McCain had attended Law School, would McCain Voters still be RACISTS? "What if" NewsWeek and the entire corrupt American media had not been in the tank for Barack Obama, would McCain Voters still be RACISTS? "What if" the writer and the poster of this post were not Race Baiters, would McCain Voters still be RACISTS?

Wardrobe

Stay up with the news guys, the wardrobe purchases only amounted to 50,000 not only for Palin, but for her family as well. Immediatley 50,000 was returned and 50,000 was tried on then returned. For a VP candidate and a family, the clothing is a must. Dont let the liberal media try to tell you otherwise, lets see how much Barack is spending on things not only in his campaign but the porkbarrel spending through his career.

Press

I think all we have to do is look at who runs the press and we see why everyone is so biased against McCain and Palin. I agreed with Fred Smith from LA about the majority of our children will never attend Harvard or the other Ivy League school. Should we tell them now they will neither have the education or money to succeed and posibility become President of this United States of America. I do believe at one time, anyone could grow up to become President of the US. Not so anymore??
