Can Obama help save my family

I would like to now if obama is going to help the mexicans here in the united states to get legal, and the reason I ask is because my husband of 11 years is having a hard time getting legal because we dont have the money that the goverment wants to make him legal, all they think about is money they dont think about the families that will be destroyed, because if they decide to send my husband back me and my kids will be without.I think that he has been here this long hasn't caused any trouble pays taxes in on a temp ss# i think that my husband deserve to live here with his family.

You say it because you havent been in that situation.

I cant believe some of you really think that illegals (Mexicans) are taking our jobs...The company i work for sees MANY teenagers and minorities that come in here asking for no less than 9 dollars an hour....but yet a lot of you can say the jobs illegals have, teenagers and minorities want them. Please, hardly any teens or minorities want to work for 6.50 an hour. Either way, this country was built on immigration. WE came over here, took over the land from the native americans and now we THINK we're anybody to be saying who can live here and who cant. I just dont get it. We let the 9/11 terrorist into our country because they did it the legal way and look where that got us. whats the focus on mexicans and not other immigrants...????

This even more interesting..

I think that this whole racist bent goes deeper than many people think. Do you notice how people can post their personal stories in dealing with immigration and explain how American companies are dependant upon illegal alien worker's to stock restaraunts and grocery stores, but after all of those facts and reasonable assertions are made, the results are that more people start writing "go home" in more elaborate ways. Racists don't reason and reason touched by racism is rendered unreasonable. It befuddles me exactly how unreasonable, unreasonable can be.The skinny is that if every illegal worker were to leave their job you'd notice prices at Taco Bell, for example, skyrocket. Thats just a small example of how and why food profiteers use illegal labor. They say that illegals will do work that average United States Citizens won't do. And if you were to try to make your teenage son pick tomatoes for $3.00 an our you'd understand just how real that statement is. But reality doesn't matter to a mind that works off of feeling and not reason. That used to mean that you were stupid, but apparently now that makes you a traditionalist or perhaps a far right winger? How can your mind opperate on imagined fear and irrational reason in the face of facts? Hey racists or whatever you want to call yourselves, talk to an economist and ask what would happend to food prices and basic services(I almost mentioned construction, but well, thats down already with housing), if illegals were to simply "go home". Also ask yourselves why illegals have had such great toleration so far. Connect a few dots and examine a few industries and you might draw some connections. I'm reiterating this because this is the core of this great pointless debate. Brokers on Wallstreet can deplete an economy but illegals who steal all of our fruit picking jobs are hurting prospects for United States citizens? Come on fellas, you can't wash over that kind of truth with empty "go home" rhetoric. This is an elitist country and it always has been. Perhaps hard times will change that view a bit. It really would only take a bit, its not really that scary guys and gals.

it's people like you that make the world a bad place!

wow what a bunch of IGNORANT STUPID A** F***king republicans. Illegals do jobs you stupid stuck up people would never do in your ilfe time. I'd love to see what happens to America, especially California when there isn't any more fruits and vegetables cuz you republicans sure aren't going to go work in the fields.

Very Kind...

Ok haters, thanks God there werent people like you guys when your ancesters came here and ____ the indians!

JAAmerican on Ilegal Immigration Problem

I commented on your previous immigration article and again I am going to comment over and over until you get it! Have you ever tried to personally get through the USA immigration system??? I think not or you might have a little more sense and compassion. I am a US Citizen, born in the USA a middle aged white woman. My crime it seems was to have fallen in love and married a Jamacain citizen. I have attempted for three years to bring my loved one to this country to live and have a life with me here. Guess what, at one point I worked three jobs and I applied the legal way to bring him here. Paid the money, filed the paper work and travelled to Kingston to our "Great USA Embassy" for the interview. All for nothing....to be treated like an idiot by the woman who interviewed us...like second class citizens....They are very rude, unhelpful, and bothered by you being there! Which, by the way, they are paid very well by our US govt to do!! I ended up packing my bags and leaving everything and everyone in my life of 45 years to be with the one I love! Tell me is that fair??? I can totally understand and sympathize with people who come to this country illegally. I had to move, live, and work in Jamaica which by the way, was very easy through the Jamaican immigration process. I currently possess a visa that allows me travel back and forth any time. Their process compared to the USA is very easy and inexpensive, simple if you are married and can prove it is legitamate, no problem. Due to the USA economy, which has affected the Jamaican economy, I am currently working in the USA and have a job which allows me to travel back and forth every other weekend. This is supposed to be the land of opportunity, the land of the free. This is a land of immigrants...founded by immigrants....where are the American Indians??? I thought this was their rightful country!!! Please give me a break and stop talking about something you know nothing about!!! I even wrote to our current President of the USA for help, of course you know where that got me! No where at all!!!! Unless you know what the immigration process in all about here you can not say a thing!! I wish you would open your eyes and stop being so ignorant!!

ILLEGAL immigrants

Yes, we do need workers to pick our fields. A temporary work program where the worker is not allowed to come here and have children, collect taxpayer monies through social programs, attend schools, etc. They will be provided housing, food, and a paycheck that will come at the end of picking when they go home. If they do not go home, they do not get paid. Illegals already here should be found by checking ID's at schools, employers, etc. Our state and county officials should check any ID's before free services or monies, and yes, our police officers need to check the ID of every person poled over. If a illegal is found they go to jail for 60 days minimum. Send them back and they come right back but if punished they will think twice. These poor sad stories of breaking up a families. Here's a fix. Let the illegal take the family with them back home! Should of thought about that before coming here illegally. I'm sick of paying for these people. If some of you want to support them then send money back to them in their country! How about putting LEGAL US citizens first!

WE DO NOT KNOW THE WHOLE STORY

THERE ARE MANY (ILLEGAL ALIANS) UNDOCUMENTED WORKERS

IN THE UNITED STATES WITH FAMILIES. WE ARE SUPPOSE TO BE A NATION THAT SUPPORTS FAMILY VALUES. THERE ARE MANY

IMMIGRANTS THAT PAY TAXES. UNFORTUNATELY SOME OF THESE IMMIGRANTS ARE SENT PACKING LEAVING THEIR WIVES AND CHILDREN TO FEND FOR THEMSELVES, WHO ARE AMERICAN CITIZEN. BUT I GUESS THAT SHOULD NOT BE OUR CONCERN.

I KNOW OF A FAMILY THAT HAD TO LEAVE THEIR HOME AND RENT IT OUT AND STAY WITH RELATIVES TO NOT GO INTO FORCLOSURE. BUT THE AMERICAN WAY, IT SEEMS IS JUST GET RID OF THE BUNCH. FORGETTING THAT THERE ARE SOME THAT HAVE AMERICAN WIVES AND CHILDREN. WE HAVE BECOME SO BLINDED BY OUR INJUSTICES, THAT WE CANNOT SEE THE FOREST FOR THE TREES

illegals

Tell me why it is OK to steal a social security number so an illegal can work. That is felony idenity theft. Don't tell me that you don't take as many exemptions as you can so you can get most of the cash. That leaves the rest of the taxes to be paid by the American that the number belongs to. If you were brought to the US when you were 1, why didn't you apply for amnesty when it was offered? Perhaps you had rather live off the Americans that you are stealing from. How dare you tell us to get off our ass and go to work. We don't want you here. Go back where you came from. We will fill the jobs you leave behind.

I've noticed something.

Everytime the phrase "illegal immigrant" is mentioned in open forum the ones responding always have a racist undertones in their writings. They use language such as "lurking in shadows" or expressing discontent with the situation by swearing and generalising the general issue of illegal immigration by using specific references to countries like Mexico whereas illegal immigrants come from all over central and south America, in addition to other countries that aren't quite as close the United States. To put it simply, I have not seen a forum discuss illegal immigration without an 80% minimum of respondees using fear provoking, racist statments. This is obvious to anyone who blogs or has received mail warning of the dangers of illegal immigration from KKK proxies in the mail as I have. This is the major problem with this issue which is why it remains an issue. I don't hear about paths to citizenship to those who come to this country to escape poverty or viable solutions for integration. I hear an emotional "go home"(to suffer I might add) rather than a logical immigration reform. The people of this country display racism at every given opportunity as proven by the fact that one extremley well educated presidential candidate of color(half of him anyway) has had his life, genetics, and distant relatives scrutinized and still it is reported that some "White"voters don't feel a cultural connection with him, while his plane crashing, bottom of graduating class, opponent Mccain with his connections to a financial scandal and his formely prescription addicted wife don't get a second look as they physically resemble the "White" majority. It seems that the "White passport" in this country also allows you to pass scrutiny as well as other types of borders. If this were as simple as logical allocation of laws and policies the problem would have been easily remedied by now, but in a stolen, racist country where the majority don't want to aknowledge the "dark side" of the collective character so they disguise it behind seemingly correct ideas of legal and social order, the legal and emotional have been blending with mangled results. There is a fine line, morally, between a refugee and an illegal immigrant. The "illegal" however is performing slave labor for U.S. companies, picking tomatoes for the countries restaraunts while being told to go home for breaking the law. It is obvious from this example that U.S. entities are using these people yet the blame is layed totally on the "illegal" for showing up to work when invited? Obviously the U.S. system, legally, needs repair and that "should" be the focus. It is a greater problem that the racism in this country so far has not been separated from the process as is illustrated by the myriad of comments on U.S. internet forums and similar venues. That collective illogical fear is truly what needs attention.
