VP DEBATE

John McCain’s campaign is putting pressure on the organisers of the vice-presidential debate tomorrow night to go easy on Sarah Palin amid growing alarm that faltering performances in recent days have made her an object of public ridicule".

Senator McCain you had a chance to chose Mitt Romney but you did not - and now you want a free pass. Are you kidding me??????

Palin

It is the best pratical joke I have heard in a long time. But the debate is nearly here. It is time to let us know who his running mate really is.

Gaias Child

Palin is embarrassing to David Brooks and horrifying to George Will because both of these conservatives are highly literate and would have known a great deal about every potential running mate that John McCain could have chosen. Neither of them would have seen Palin coming, heartbeat away from the presidency, no. Both of them have probably never voted for a democrat in their lifetimes. Just guessing, could be wrong, get that feeling. So for John McCain to be representing their party is a sad day for them and then for him to behaving a little bit like King Lear on 'ludes has to be just awful. They really cannot take him apart as they can her. But she is his choice, as he has said, his "soul mate" and she's brought him applause, attention, and power. Neither George Will nor David Brooks can give him that. Even if they wish they could. I just wonder what happens when they vote. They are both extremely well read. They are intelligent and thoughtful. They must be looking forward to the debate too.

Hilarious

I can’t believe in day and age, during these times that anyone would consider voting for the Republican Party. It has been, in resent history, the party saying one thing and doing another. They are not conservative or particularly religious in nature, they just pretend to be so that they can get elected. Palin epitomizes all that is wrong with the Republican Party. The republicans lack the leadership and more importantly the intelligence to move this country forward. It is laughable yet people still by into the rhetoric. Is it any wonder the country is in the mess it’s in? Where is the outrage?

Typo

Correction: "...Bidens' Two Cereberal ANEURYSMS..."

Why does Biden have two aneurysms & is another likely?

Bonnie ,your clairol dye job is beyond believable for even a twenty-something...really now.Besides one of your fellow "journalists ,Katy Couric, whose indoor plumbing is forever etched into my memory, was herself a Pom Pom pixie. True? I think someone (refreshingly) unaccustomed to Belt-way politics could bring some fresh air to Dupont Cirle don't you? A populist Capra-esque figure is coming to life-one just entered the scene -let's give her a chance & our prayers.P.S. I just have learned of Sen.Bidens' Two Cerebral Aneurysms .Doesn't that mean one could just drop where they stand? Like game over.

What will McCain pull next?

John McCain seems to think no more than ten minutes into the future. He has repeatedly reacted to slipping poll numbers by making rash, dramatic decisions without thinking about the consequences. Palin was the first in a series of irresponsible choices McCain has made in a wild attempt to "shake things up" in the presidential race. If this is what McCain means by "shaking up Washington," he needs to get out of politics. His erratic personality is not safe for the country.

in over her head

The only reason that Palin's interview with Charles Gibson was not as disasterous as w/Katie Couric (even though it was fraught with missteps) is because it was so early in her national introduction that the honeymoon was still on and she was not yet aware of the vastness of her own ignorance. Now she knows what the rest of us have always known-- there are some things that you just cannot learn in a crash course on world affairs no matter how hard the McCain staff tries to drill the necessary facts into her head. Most of these issues she has never even thought about let alone formed an articulable position on so she is just in way over her head and the sad part is that she is only just now realizing it.

At least one thing is clear--nothing gets done politically at this level in the Republican party without the say-so of the very mobilized right wing Evangelical zealots. McCain had plenty of other options in picking a legit. candidate-- overlooking the highly qualified women in his party (Christine Whitman, Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins, Kay Bailey Hutchinson to name a few) to choose someone so monumentally unqualified in order to pander to the homophobic Jesus freak crowd is a disservice to women everywhere. Obama wins hands down.

Will of AZ

You are really a complete moron. Bill Ayers was not much of a terrorist and is 20 years older than Obama.

As for the Khalid al Mansour, are you completely insane?

You really needed to have been alive in the 1960's to know that the weather underground didn't do all that much - it was the army shooting down students at Kent State and bashing other anti-Vietnam war protestors that were the real terrorists.

And Obama was born in 1961 so I scarcely think that anything Ayers had done had a damn thing to do with Obama.

Talk about clasping ludicrous straws mate.

palin

i won't even give her the benefit of a capital letter. this bigoted no-nothing, with her god complex is totally unfit to be a politcal player, except maybe in an out-of-the-way landscape of stupidity. go ahead, ask me what i really think!
