Contradictory Polls Between Obama and McCain

September 18, 2008 05:06 PM ET | Bonnie Erbe | Permanent Link | Print

Even though there are several national polls showing Sen. Barack Obama pulling ahead (most likely as a result of the two candidates' responses to the Wall Street stock and credit crisis), the more important Electoral College tallies are showing Sen. John McCain gaining ground.

Yesterday's CBS News/New York Times poll shows Obama retaking a lead. But today's Electoral College tally by electoral-vote.com shows Obama, who two weeks ago was winning in states with more than 300 electoral votes, at 243 and Senator McCain at 274, while states with 21 electoral votes are showing the two dead even.

The political consequences are becoming increasingly clear: the economy is going to drown out every other topic and both parties are struggling to find good responses. This is going to be easier for Democrats than Republicans, in part because the answer most voters want aligns well with the Democrats' traditional response: the government needs to regulate big business. The traditional Republican response is to let the market do its work and reward winners and punish losers. Eventually it will settle down. But for millions of people worried about their jobs, their houses, their investments, their pensions, and their futures, just waiting it out may not be so popular.

Why the difference? Could be that state polls aren't produced on a daily basis as some of the national presidential polls are, so the impact of this week's Wall Street tumble did not yet sink in when the state polls were taken. It could also be that Obama is ahead nationally, but not in key swing states. Stay tuned!!!

Socialist -Just Say NO

although Obama is charismatic and a smooth talker, he's a die-hard SOCIALIST and if anyone with a brain would listen to his policies, he doesn't hide it. take that together with all the radical associations he "coincidentally" has, past & present, this guy is a huge RISK to be a leader of a democratic nation. his socialism is welfare; he will instill trickle-up poverty. (but he or his "associates" will not have to sacrifice any cash...if they do, they'll manage some loopholes to keep their millions). DO YOUR HOMEWORK PEOPLE. He's not experienced, he's questionable on everything about his past, but read his book and you'll see it there.... SOCIALISM/MARXISM.

The real truth

The real truth is that the market is being manipulated by the media.............and pollsters whom want to faciliate the rating system............that makes the big bucks.

We feed on negative news...........like a parona fish on a dead carcass! Barak Obama...............has been schooled by idealogy and pretentious thoughts of how to manipulate the races into one happy plausable state of socialism!

His health care plan offers no merit when in fact a free captitalistic system will not be manipulated by government to provide health care.

He avoids the issues of cost containment, and he avoids the issues of illegal immigrants feeding off our system .... utilizing our health care systems...........and sending money back home ...........that needs to remain in America.

We can't bail ourselves out of this unless we plug the holes and Americans' especially black.........to become informed ... voters not racist in voting..........with a prejudicial mind.. because Barak Obama is black.

Racism is alive and well .............and it seems obvious that black people can effect moreso that their white counterparts.

Barak Obama if elected will cause and be the dividing line of America...........and racism and riots will come alive again.

The clock will be rolled back..........and we the Whites will in effect taste the poison that Barak Obama will feed his race!!

Saint Democrats

It is amazing to see how lately the media is trying to portrait republicans as "haters". Comments from democrats like the one above, shows a pattern that the democrats have always shown: "If you don't agree with me, you are an idiot". They have been the ones always at the offence, always yelling, screaming and throwing verbal tantrums, but only when conservatives stand and give their opinion, the media notice it. Their behavior is acceptable and unnoticeable. Ours is condemned. They are allowed to freely insult, criticize and offend us and our candidates, but, don't you DARE to criticize their views or politics, then you are called: A THREAT TO AMERICA like Senator Wagner from VA said. Good Grief....
