I find it remarkable that Sarah Palin is being touted by the Republicans as an excellent choice by John McCain. I fear that his choice is irresponsible and a blow to American politics. Have we gotten to the point that winning the election is more important than anything else? John McCain vowed not to run a negative campaign, but quickly give in to pressure. Why? Because we was behind in the polls. So Palin becomes an overnight sensation, because the Republicans keep saying she is one. I believe a good=looking woman was chosen for a reason; anything else would not have worked with all the right-wing men.
Jesus would be appalled
I am a white married woman, evangelical church member for many years. I cannot by any stretch of the imagination consider John McCain or Sarah Palin for Pres/VP. Jesus taught us to care for and share with others. Jesus taught us non-violence and compassion towards all. Jesus taught us not to bear false witness, but John McCain has run the most vile, lying campaign in US history. In my opinion he has sold his soul and lost his honor. The republican party has become the party of the Pharisees. Jesus would be appalled at Sarah Palin and John McCain.
Empty Suits and Slogans
Anyone notice that a couple of previous Obama supporters were a little "disconnected" and spewed out slogans and "bumper sticker logic" (actually that's not fair to bumper stickers - some bumper stickers are indeed logical).
Along those same lines allow me to say that one doesn't usually find much "change" in "empty suits"... A little take home tidbit.

Palin - Abortion - Responsibility
H.L., do you know the percentage of abortions that fall into the categories you mention? Less than 2%... The rest are all about "inconvenience" and irresponsibility.
Furthermore, even the 2% you allude to are still human babies - not turnips. And, even though their creation took place in truly horrifying circumstances - They are still humans deserving of respect and caring - Not destruction.
Perhaps those twelve year old girls you mention might come to realize what a wonderful thing a baby is regardless of how it came to be. After all, it is life, not an "abomination"...If not there are thousands of couples out there wanting to become loving parents.
Sarah Palin kept her Downs baby - Didn't take the easy out... She loves that baby, her family loves it and most important, that baby will know love, and will have lessons to teach us all.
You know, life sometimes deals us all crappy cards, but the innocent are not to blame- ever...
