Barack Obama's Problem With White Female Voters

Are Democratic leaders getting just what they deserve? Quite frankly, should they have been able to predict this wave of GOP support when they nominated an inexperienced, far-left candidate for president on the Democratic ticket?

Today's Washington Post/ABC News poll shows:

Republican presidential candidate John McCain has gained huge support among white women since naming Sarah Palin as his running mate and now leads Democrat Barack Obama among those voters, according to a survey published on Tuesday.

The Washington Post/ABC News poll found that much of McCain's surge in the polls since the Republican National Convention is attributable to the shift in support among white women.

The race for the White House is now a virtual tie, with Obama at 47 percent support of registered voters and McCain at 46 percent, the poll found. Before the Democratic National Convention in late August, Obama held an 8 percentage point lead among white women voters, 50 percent to 42 percent, but after the Republican convention in early September, McCain was ahead by 12 points among white women, 53 percent to 41 percent, the poll found.

Asked about the new numbers, an Obama spokesperson said the ABC poll is wrong. Easily said, difficult to prove—especially since other polls are showing, more importantly, that Senator Obama's huge advantage in the electoral college vote is like Joshua's walls, comin' a tumblin' down. From Rasmussen:

The latest numbers from the Rasmussen Reports Balance of Power Calculator show Obama leading in states with 193 Electoral College votes and McCain ahead in states with 183 Electoral College votes. Previously, Obama had enjoyed a 210-165 advantage.

A 10 electoral vote advantage is hardly worth bragging rights this close to an election that the Democrats should have won in a walk. It is of course too early to say who will win. We have the debates in front of us. And a Democratic campaign denizen friend of mine keeps telling me the polls are way off because pollsters don't poll cellphones and the majority of young Americans are no longer reachable via residential land lines. Obama, of course, wins big among younger Americans. But whether they will turn out in appreciably larger percentages than in past elections remains to be seen. No matter which side you're on, your nails should be chewed down to the quick by now.

Not all women are thinking.

I'm an Independent, homeschooling mom of three, educated, and happily married. I'm struggling hard to understand what's going on with women voters out there right now, and consider myself mildly ashamed to be a white woman in America. I'm tired of being lumped in with the rest of the femsheep out there supporting McCain/Palin. The fact that a lot of women out there obviously haven't read the comparisons between the Obama and McCain proposals, haven't taken the time to educate THEMSELVES by reading or researching the actual facts instead of listening to the blatant pandering towards female voters by the McCain/Palin campain sickens me. WAKE UP LADIES! There is nothing female friendly about this ticket. McCain/Palin's strategists obviously know how to play the gender gap and you're buying into it like needy children. The reality is voting in a sexist way does NOT help this world or the "cause" It's like picking a man because he's a man; it's massively hypocritical. It shows an uneducated, narrow minded and seriously confused side of many women that needs to stop. You can put lipstick on Palin, but she's still a reproductive control freak, she speaks in a way that belittles a lot of women by assuming we're all "folksy" unintelligent oafs who need to be told what to think and how to live. I don't want a "MOM" in the Whitehouse, I want progressive thinkers who care. Overturning Roe v Wade, ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! She's an extremist with obvious control issues. The Republican Party Platform, which bottom line is NOT good for women of any age. Poor healthcare platform, women forced to have children they cannot possibly afford to raise, and perhaps shouldn't necessarily, welfare policies that push marriage as an option instead of other roads. Why is it her daughter gets to "choose" her unborn child and the rest of us might have it made for us? I'm highly dubious Palin's daughter made the choice for herself anyways, please. That Evangelical Mama had some input for sure (also nice to have a rich family to help you out) In the McCain/Palin campain, religion rules whether you want to admit it or not. There will be no separation of Church and State because these 2 Candidates obviously make their decisions on religious morals, not educated or open-minded decision practices. This is bigger than the US, it's going to effect the world. To me,Palin will have doors slammed into her face not because she's necesarrily a woman, but because she has no real political substance worthy of being paid attention to. Obama and Biden aren't perfect, but they're a WAY more educated, realistic and positive choice for this country. I mean heck, even my 10 year old daughter deduced that Obama was a better choice for President without my help. If a 10 year old can do it, so can you. Stop calling what some of you are doing thinking, it's demeaning to us women out here who actually take the time to read, learn and make smart political choices based on fact, not sexism, racism or greed.

Do women think anymore...

Uhhh I think Obama spoke volumes about who he is when he chose a "man" as his running mate. He denied women what men have been denying women for years..The right to be equal and share power.

hey

personaly i think it's a way for them to gain power and respect. There using thier suductive ways to get what they want. They arnt thinking, their emotions are comming more and more out.
