General, Secretary of State, Statesmen and now COWARD

Colin Powell showed a lack of vision and revealed that he doesn’t have a solid set of principles. It does not take any courage to wait until the election cycle is almost complete and pick the person in the lead. His reason: Cult of Personality. He didn’t state that he is more in alignment with Obama’s economic, foreign, domestic or social policy This isn't a valid reason to pick a candidate or back a leader. It is an excuse to jump on the band wagon like a fair weather fan. His political credibility took a deep plunge and he will never have my support.

United=We Stand

SIMPLY PUT

UNITED=WE STAND

DIVIDED=WE FALL

CALLING EACH OTHER NAMES IS FEAR AND INSECURITY! WE ARE BETTER THEN THIS. RESPECT ONE ANOTHER ITS OKAY TO DISAGREE! THIS COUNTRY CAN NOT GROW IN THE PRESENT OR FUTURE IF WE CONTINUE TO LOOK AT THE PAST. TIMES HAVE CHANGED AND A NEW ERA IS UPON US! THINK ABOUT IT

coward he is

Now, Nov 19, 2008 it is official, Colin Powell is a coward. Not an individual that is cowardly, but a man with a cowardly intellect. He has chosen liberal principles in his stated concern about more strict constructionist judges, and he openly, albeit not expressly, admitted his decision was based upon race - how pathetic. I still am amazed that liberals are soooo scared of conservative judges whose rulings would not outlaw any behavioral agenda, they would simply allow each state to pass its own laws, thereby allowing each citizen more of a voice in their own government -- how terrible. Well, I guess if you are a socialist that is a real problem.

Colin Powell lied to?

Was he lied to? That really is the question. He is a smart man

and I think at some point way back then (early on) it became

painfully clear to him that he was used to further the Bush agenda. I think that is the reason why some call him a coward,

and still others call him "Uncle Tom". He should of been smart enough to realize that the salvation of his reputation was in his hands. Perhaps instead of waiting for Bush and cronies to be finished with him and throw him away he should of stood firm and stated that

he realized just how he had been used and that he was breaking

with his party because he had been used to further the Bush agenda. Instead he walked off into the sunset leaving those

who had trusted him behind. There is a saying by someone famous

whose name I do not now recall, but he said. "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing".

In that quote is the reality of what Colin Powell did to his reputation, to his country and countrymen.

I will actually be very surprised if he endorses anyone in this campaign. His time to come clean passed long ago. If he does in

fact endorse Obama I will wonder if it isn't some kind of payback to the party that he feels let him down. If he endorses

McCain then the "Uncle Tom" remarks will be resurrected. He clearly can not win, unless his reason for the meet the press meeting is to announce his break with the party and an endorsement for Obama. Sounds like a win? I think not. Let's say he endorses Obama and Obama wins and Powell is given some job in the White House. disgruntled republicans can say he sold out his core beleifs. He has to announce a break, reasons for

that break and his intentions. What ever way it goes, he walked off the stage, left the American people high & dry and has a real long way to go to get back into the good graces of folks on either side of the isle. Is almost preferable that he not back anyone and keep his confessions or apologies, or explanations to himself.

Coward?

I am Pro Obama all the way. I am voting for him on the 4th no question. But the very idea that you would title your article with an insult to a great american. A man who was thrown under the bus by our current president, for no cause! The Coward? Dear Lord. It is YOU Mamn who are a Coward. You work at a paper and launch insults from afar. Get over yourself!

A Coward??

Give me a break! He was no coward Ms. Erbe. Powell was instead an honorable soldier by doing what the President asked him to do. Isn't a military man required to follow orders from his Commander-and-Chief (whether he agrees or not)?? If the answer is "yes" why is he a coward for doing the right thing and then keeping his mouth shut. Wouldn't it have been easier to rat on his boss and clear his own name?

Powell is a hero, Ms. Erbe, and you are a fool.

Just plain wow!

All of you who do what you boss tell you without knowing all the facts are cowards. This is more of the same. Why not go to Powell yourself to find out what his point of view was. you just went an took bits and pieces of stories. If anyone the coward is GWB who lied to all of you, and should been impeached.

Also this victory in Iraq talk is crazy... IF I DON"T LIKE YOU I NEVER WILL!!! We don't even get along in the US, how can we bring change to another country? I don't remember anyone in Iraq asking for our help. Saadam was killing his own people which I don't agree with, but Bush didn't care about any of the people that was dying in the USA. It's just crazy how our country has just forgotten about what makes this the BEST Country in the World, sorry the 12th best if you look at the WHO.

Powell's Problem

The problem with Powell is that he traded in his dignity. He chose to carry the Bush Administration's Dirty water and thosands of people have died as a result. Not only have we lost over 4,000 Americans, but hundresd of thousands of Iraqis have died because Powell lied. Powell chose party instead of country and America will pay for this blunder for decades to come. This is unforgivable and something Powell will have to live with. As far as his endorsement of Obama, I don't expect Powell to buck the party. He didn't do it to prevent the greatest foreign policy error in my lifetime. Why would he do it now.

How Dare You

Who in the hell do you think you are? Have you ever put yourself in harms way to do your sacred duty as a soldier? The simple fact that Gen. Powell has spent his entire life in defense of this country obligates you to respect his service - even if you don't agree with his politics. A COWARD? HOW DARE YOU!

As an honorable man, and a soldier who brought his sensibilities and respect for the chain of command to his public service as SecState, Gen. Powell WAS NOT "given the boot." Even though he disagreed with the Bush administration's foreign policy re: Iraq, he did his job and supported the position of his Commander-in-Chief.

After the first Bush term ended, he felt he could no longer espouse the lies and deceit of the Bush administration and, HONORABLY, chose to retire to private life where he has been doing wonderful work.

Over any other potential candidate, I would have voted for Gen. Powell for President. I know of no other man, black or white, Republican or Democrat, who has acquitted himself with more honor that Gen. Colin Powell. I think so much of Gen. Powell, that I named my first-born son after him. BTW, I'm a white Republican, who has never met, and is no relation to this honorable man.

You should get down on your knees and thank him for his service, and keep your "coward" comments to yourself.

You guys make me made

The use of the word Coward is used for shoke value. Why do people like you or the news media in general have to slander people on both sides of the aisle. You guys think it's fun or you do it for ratings but this is real life stuff. You can't continue to make a joke of everything. This stuff belongs in the National Enquire, so why don't you go write for them.
