I’ve developed a proposal, called the Conversion Proposal (or the Once Cent Solution), the purpose of which is to initiate a national program to address fossil fuel dependence. Please go to http://conversionsite.blogspot.com/2007/04/conversion-proposal.html and post your ideas on the proposal and how we might build some momentum with our elected officials.

People in thrid world countries have too many kids?

People in third world countries have too many kids?

Yeah, lets blame the third world countires...instead of the western countries like the USA that, instead of invading places like Iraq..could have invaded third world countries where people are really worse off...and then stabilise those countries and invest in them technology en masse to being them to prosperity.

You think third world countries are eating up all of America's food resources?

FFS have you seen how fat you and your neighbors are?

Maybe if you folks ate a little less, drove smaller cars and generally put some thought into your "gotta have it now, must have more and bigger' lifestyles...you might just start making some sense when you post up stuff.

You think third world countries use up a lot of oil?

The USA is the number one user of oil products in the world.

YOU lot are the ones using the majority of oil...YOU lot are the ones that are now screaming because is getting scarce and more expensive.

People in thrid world countires will probably end up suffering a lot less than you 'civilised' folk...because they're used to surviving on nothing...Americans are not.

Life as we know it in the west may fast be coming to an end.

Happy trails.

basically, only 5% of biofeuls are made using food products or crops such as maize, while the rest 95% is still petroluem. Just look at what this 5% of has done to us... it basically, caused a major havoc by people blaming biofuel as d reason for food crisis. I feel tht while emphasisng on biofuel, rapid actions should also be done to increase the total yield of food product. This is to place the construction of biofuel and production of food in equilibrium. If there's no eveness between both... food crisis will occur as most of the food supply is contributed to the production of biofuel. However, there are several options availabe to over come the problem between biofuel and food crisis... GMOs. But could theybe the right option? the answer is in our hands....

do you remember the days when every body had a graden in the back of there yards i am from Jamaica i rememer needing pepper to go in to the pot and i would go around to the back of the yard and pick it and put it in my pot i did the same thing when i needed fresh vegetables but gone are the days of such riches you are left to to buy the offer process and chemical spred food that will only cause illness this is due to the modernization of 'technology" and work that demand sitting in an office before the sun rise and staying there till after the sun has set there is no time for going in to your backyard and that is afew who has a back yard this is due to the meager land spaces being sold for large sums of money .have a wonderful day

Oil Crisis -- Electrification of the U.S. Automotive Fleet

How about setting as a high priority goal (like the mission to the moon) the electrification of the U.S. automotive fleet with the specific objectives of ---

• having energy consumption by motor vehicles in the US X percent electric by year Y, where X is the percentage that would make us independent of foreign oil for at least 10 years past date Y and where date Y reflects the time required to attain this goal on a high priority basis in the judgment of technical experts;

• establishing electric charging/power pack exchange stations throughout the US to support the energy requirements of the US automotive fleet on a timely basis;

• supplying the additional electrical energy required from non-fossil fuel sources at a cost and in a time frame no greater than that now available from expansion of nuclear power. (Currently US energy production is 20%, Japan is 60% and France 80% nuclear).

Further, that China, India and any other major oil consumer be urged to join the US in this effort, possibly on a cooperative basis if such a joint program would accelerate goal attainment and reduced cost for all participants.

The price of foreign oil is determined by anticipated future demand. Let us make that zero.

Food vs Oil

Okay, the government needs tostop taking subsities to creat more corn for the biofuels. They need to become independent and creat biofules with other reasouces like wood chips instead of corn. Farmers are losing fertlizers because its so expensive now.

FOOD CRISIS

Getting on your knees and praying is not going to solve this problem.

- people in some foreign countries are having TOO many kids.

- the US farmland that gets swallowed up by these stupid housing developments

needs to be used for growing food for the US first, other countries last.

- the US needs to be as independent as we can and ethanol is one of the steps

towards that.

- There are too many dirt poor countries with inefficient governments that are just

relying on our handouts.

There is no one solution that will solve this problem, but we need to be looking at number 1 first.

food crisis

The Canadian shales DO NOT have 120 years worth of oil They can produce at best 5 million bbls a day by the year 2012. Thats 81 million barrels short PER DAY that the world need. Also there is not enough natural gas to produce that so called oil. You may as well melt tires to get oil, thats the truth of the matter. Canada has misled the world on its so called reserves.

To believe in nuclear energy is hogwash as well. Canada is the leading supplier of uranium and its almost tapped out.

food crisis

The answer is to drill for more oil, period. Alaska, the coasts of Florida, and the Canadian Shales are awash with billions of barrels of oil. The Canadian Shales alone contain enough oil at present consumption rates to last over 120 years. This could be used while other energy sources/alternatives are worked on and at the same time freeing food production for just that - food production. This nonsense with too many people on the planet, having too many children, global warming has to stop.
