Media Objectivity or Lack Thereof
I have intensely reviewed election coverage going back to the Kennedy election and have never witnessed such a level of media bias towards one candidate; Barak Obama. After having lived in mainland China for the last 10 years with the state in control of the media, I see little difference here in this country where the radical left has control of the media. While McCain and Palin have been intensely scrutinized, we know little of Obama other than his poor judgment in his associations. While some of the information I would like to know about Obama may be available, I would like to see those questions covered and discussed openly by the media. Without having to do individual research, I would like to know;
Where was he born?
Is he a US citizen?
When did he first start using marijuana and cocaine?
Was he a dealer in those drugs?
Does he still use those drugs?
While in school in Indonesia, he was required to study Islam. How long was he a practicing Muslim?
Why will he not release his medical records? What is so secret in those records?
What were the content of his essays and papers while in college?
What is the summary of his voting record in the Illinois senate? How many times did he not vote and/or vote "present"?
What is the summary of his voting record in the US senate? Did he ever break ranks with Pelosi/Reed?
What are his Muslim ties today?
These are just some of the questions I have, but there are many others the public should have answered before voting on arguably the most powerful position in the world. There are only a few days left before the election, and if the polls are correct, Obama will be the next president and we know very little about him. The media; television, radio, newspapers, magazines, Hollywood, etc, is out of control in this country and has influenced a nation to vote for the most inexperienced person I have seen run for president in my lifetime. People in the media, shame on all of you, and god help us!!
Common sense should...
..should come out at some point. No matter what your personal opinion Obama has done a better job at presenting a better candidate for pres than the old man who still uses ethnic slurs to describe his former captors in Vietnam and decides to get a lady as a running mate for VP purely to catch the votes that Hillary won't be needing anymore, while shaking Bush's hand and mirroring his policies.
That was a long sentence,oh well.
It doesn't even seem like Mccain is running a campaign, he is just another stamped out Repub that they are grooming to take up where Bush left off. Only an honest idiot would vote for four more years of bush as we've barley survived the last eight!
Did it take a dark man running for president..
..to promote all of these rural hill dwellers to learn what the internet was,how to use a computer, and finally how to blog nothing but nonsense reasons as to why Obama(Hussein to them) should not be president!? Wow...I'm going to go read a really thick book about complicated stuff now, after I wash my eyes.
Hello???? Is Anybody Home?
All of our elections have been important, and I have voted in several elections. This is the only time my vote has been questioned relative to race and gender. Being an African American female, there is an assumption that I will either vote for Barack Obama, or John McCain via Sara Palin. That is ridiculous. The very same standards and requirements I expected from previous presidential candidates, I expect from these. I personally like and agree with Barack Obama's platform more than I do John McCain, and to see how his campaign has turned, and his willingness to use a woman to gain an office has vindicated my choice. Everyone knows that Obama could have "used" Clinton in the same manner, and I'm glad he chose not to do so. Not because Clinton would not have been a good choice, but if you look further down the road, you can see that it is in her better interest to not be tied to a ticket that has that has attracted such demonization. That way whether Obama wins or loses, her chances are good when she does decide to win. But, the issue to me as stated before is who is better: candidate, judgment, campaigner, and better solutions for issues facing our nation. Obama has demonstrated he is superior in each of those areas, and the fact that McCain is allegedly ahead in the polls can simply be based on the uninformed and the racist. Those who would sell this country out to keep the status quo. The United States is our home, we often sang America the Beautiful.....but there is nothing beautiful in the McCain campaign, it is ugly, deceitful, and unAmerican. This is our home, shouldn't we want the head of the house to be capable, intelligent,dignified, and inclusive?
Maryland's son and other stuff...
It is so hard to be civil during this year's campaign when we are all speaking such nonsense. Having also been one whose life was spent wandering about, sometimes at the will of the US Air Force, I truly question the "logic" of why folks from Maryland should be ashamed if they don't vote for McCain. As an older, white lady who has spent a lot of time in the south and loves the people and land, it would still be naive to think that racism does not exist. To give statistics on the "blackness" of Maryland is so sad. Please read up on McCain's "unerprivileged" life a bit more before feeling sorry for him for anything other than his horrible stay in Hanoi. Vote for him because you think he is capable, not because he is a graduate of Annapolis. I happen to disagree that he should be our next president, but that is based on issues and past records, not an aversion to my race.
Objectivity
It may well be that your publication has no stake in who wins but please don't suggest that the talking heads of the MSM havn't invested everything they have in promoting Obama,both in the primaries and now. What you do Not know about Obama could Hurt you . McCain's choice of Palin proves McCain to be very smart and keen. The world may prefer Obama because it would be easier for them to deal with In-Experienced Obama . Do we need Ethnic/Race Quota in US government ? I suppose that one has to earn the privilege .
