IPhone’s Mishaps Force BlackBerry to be Cautious, Not Bold
The maker of the BlackBerry phone is suffering these weeks as the market gets impatient waiting for the new Bold handset. As FierceWireless reports, analysts are starting to fret that Research in Motion will fumble the holiday selling season.
RIM is smart to be cautious. With its hold over corporate sales, the BlackBerry can’t take the same chances that the iPhone did in coming to market despite problems connecting on its AT&T network. Let’s face it, the iPhone is more about fun. The connection problem caused a backlash, but iPhone users generally were forgiving about dropped calls and data downloads.
The BlackBerry is more about getting things done. Less room for error.

AT&T
I sold my old ipone as AT&T promised me a 3g ipone when it came out. I was told thru customer care that I would be sent a new iphone when it was released. I live 125miles from the neastest AT&T authorised dealer and was told I had to drive and pay the price and when it arrived I had to drive back and pick it up. Well 500 miles is a long way and management at AT&T said i could pick any other phone so I chose the 8820 Blackberry only till the Bold was released. I'm still waiting for months!
So un sold on the freakin BOLD!!!
Like the other comments I too have been stuck w a bb 8300 that has a cracked screen, and broken keys. I refuse to replace it in anticipation of the "phantom menace" aka the Bold!!!Lets go ATT I'm freakin dyin ova here!!!
RIM is smart to wait
I have been hanging on to my Curve (8300), waiting for the BB Bold to be released in the U.S. They are selling them in Canada. Some celebrities in the United States (John Mayer, Lindsay Lohan, Kate Hudson) already have the Bold.
As much as I would like to upgrade my phone right this instant, I do not want to deal with bugs and software malfunctions. These smartphones are way too expensive for me to be a product tester.
Before I switched to using BlackBerrys, I was a diehard Palm user. When I "upgraded" to the Palm Life Drive, I was greatly displeased. The thing crashed and froze all of the time--making it useless for work and a pain for when I wanted to use it for fun. That was the turning point for me and the whole reason why I switched to BlackBerrys. If the Bold turns out to be a total disaster, I may give the iPhone another look. I use my smartphones for both work and for fun. But when it comes to work...I expect it to work--period.
