Thats Bullhockey

A school that is acheiving higher standards than most others should not be punished. These people should be used as a model for other schools to finhd ways to improve their own.

Wisconsin

Where on earth is Wisconsin in all this? We are known for our excellent school systems. Is it too cold in Wisconsin for you to come and check us out? I find these rankings very hard to believe.

Ouachita High school

I can not believe our school got on the list here at Ouachita High School

Elderton Jr-Sr High School

To bad this bronze award winner will be closed after this school. School board members of this high achieving yet small school -that is always raising the bar to prove it's worth -feel it is a drain on it's district due it's northern region and their own personal political adgendas.

Congratualtions Elderton, it's students and faculty and staff for proving yourselves once agian! We deserve this for all of our hard work!

Criteria

As an "average" middle class family, we'd be much more interested in the TRUE rankings of REAL schools. I don't really care about the schools where the kids have to be on lists for years, and the parents can buy a seat. I'd like to know how my kids' school ranks among schools out there that real people can attend.

Walnut Hills H.S. Cincinnati

My goal for my 2 children was to have them graduate from Walnut Hills, ranked 38th. I felt if they graduated from this school they would have the educational background and the incentive to go on to college. Fortunately this became reality. My daughter has 2 Masters, and some work toward a Ph.D. My son, not quite as academic received his degree in Economics. A French teacher at Walnut Hills told him he had an ear for languages and today he is fluent in five. My daughter lives in Washington D.C. and when she meets people from Cincinnati, the first question is always, did you go to Walnut Hills? And 95% of the time the answer is yes. They are proud of their university, but financially support their High School. It is definitely the 'jewel in the crown' of the Cincinnati School System.

We Are Happy

South Haven High School in Michigan has, for a long time, done a great job with disadvantaged kids and appreciates the recognition. We have no AP or IB programs because we send more than half of our senior class directly into an early college program at our local community college. Most of our students graduate with 15 or more college credits. We feel this is a more practical way to help our students and their parents, as we pay the tuition. We would urge the evaluators to consider this factor as other schools in Michigan do this - although not to the extent that SHHS does.

how do the private schools compare

Why can we not get a comparison of the top private vs public on data in each state? I would like to know for cost sake...should i just go with the local public that is in the top or go the the local private school that is "supposed" to be better?

Out of 1999 High Schools in California you only tested 858? Less than half?

One of qualifications was AP scores when it is known SOME schools in large districts coach students in order to inflate their scores, this is done in an effort to gain funding.

I think you need to review your criteria for ranking schools, one that will encoumpas all schools not less than half in a state.
