owl/oaks
I'm listening to owl on tape, i took it out of the sisseton,sd library. sisseton is about 29 miles south of wyndmere. I grew up in Devils Lake, ND and have been enjoying the hell out of owl. the nick-names are special to me, in ND it just seems everyone is issued one in much the same way Jualia(CC)explained it. The Gorden Khol portion of the story shined a differnt light on that subject & to be honest it made me look at that ordeal in a much more positive light. I taught English, high school in ND for a few years and Mr. chuck nailed it, simply nailed the whole small town life of a first-year teacher in ND.I too went to UND..I was drinking in whiteys in 1976, its still there and has the best au gratens spuds, not to mention the atmosphere, on the river. Mr chuck thniks like a true NDen..and he can explain the "state-of-mind", as well. he mentions the girls on campus..man, he nailed that too..one couldn't wait for spring to come to und, the coats came off and the girls walked up and down universtiy avenue like a "runway". I'll meet Chuck at the Red Pepper for a "garbage plate" any time!
